This looks pretty similar to Perfect Score by Jon Allen. Is anybody familiar with this?
Thanks, George |

I asked Paul from Hocus Pocus that same question, so should be hearing back from him as soon as he receives the product.

Hello,
Sorry to say I don't personally know the differences between the two. I can ask Paul tomorrow morning and post back here. For those interested here is the direct link to The Bullet by Todd Lamanske http://www.hocus-pocus.com/magicshop/?p=31098 Cole |

The gimmick can be seen in the picture... No movable parts but fixed components apparently.
In a few weeks there is another design followed by another one... Unfortunately that's the way it always goes... |

I was hoping it was not a rip off but the picture says everything . By the looks of it, it seems to do the exact same thing as perfect score in the exact same way.

The card sits in, rather than on, the card holder.
The scoring tool has been custom made. There are five killer routines: Card 2 iPod Card-iac Arrest Card(s) to Pocket(s) Dream On Card in Cell Phone And access to a private forum. Those are the main differences as far as I can see. |

Seems a bit cheeky releasing something that literally does the same job. Its not like a trick evolving in to something different.

One actual main difference not mentioned is that Perfect Score prepares cards for the MCF into sixths as well as quarters.
I didn't credit any scoring tool as they are readily available so I did not really feel it necessary. I did credit Tommy Wonder with the idea of using scored cards for the MCF. While the scoring tool isn't custom-made by me, it is custom-made to score things. I had the template custom-made

Personally I didn't care for perfect score. When I would score cards with it they were not scored perfectly centered. I also found the score tool hard to use. This looks to me to be easier to use and I like the looks of the routines. I may pick one up. Truth be told this type of tool is really unnecessary as a ruler and blade will do the same thing. I was hoping with perfect score the process would be faster and more accurate but it didn't prove to be either for me. This could be an improvement but I won't know until I try one.

Hi Paul,
Sorry to hear your own experience with Perfect Score wasn't the same as everyone else's. Feel free to send me a message about what it was you found difficult in using the scoring tool. It should just be a case of sliding it across the card using the template as the guide. If your template is not made correctly, causing the score marks to be off centre please send it back to me and I will send you another one free of charge. Just in case, have made sure the rounded corners of the guides are in the corners of the template? If not, this can cause an issue. As has been discussed elsewhere, a ruler and craft knife can do the same thing but not as accurately every time. The scoring tool that comes with Perfect Score is designed to cut through a single sheet of paper. A knife is designed to do much more damage! As for speed of use, I have scored a deck of 52 cards in 11 minutes. It's also difficult to score blank cards easily which can be done childishly simply with PS.

Hey Café gang, Todd Lamanske here. I just want to clear up a few things. I did not rip off this idea from Jon Allen. I have been working on the Bullet for over 4 years and I was way deep into production when I found out about Jon's product last December. I already had 1200 of them made so I had to move forward with releasing the Bullet.
Having said that, while it does the same thing, it is completely different than the Perfect Score. It has fewer parts and I feel it is easier to use. This is not to bash Jon's product. I am a huge fan of Jon and his work. The Bullet also comes with a DVD that teaches how to use the tool, how to burnish the score lines so that they almost disappear, and 5 routines as well as moves. Finally, it comes with access to the Bullet Forum on the website (www.thebulletfold.com) that has bonus tips and ideas as well as the abilty to exchange ideas with other Bullet owners. I totally understand if you decide the Bullet is not for you but I see a lot of haters on the Café and a lot of work goes into coming up with and producing a product. The old saying, "If you don't have anything nice to say then don't day anything at all" may be good words to live by. Incidentally, Cody Fisher and Geoff Williams had great things to say about it. I'd love to hear from someone on the Café who has purchased and used the Bullet. |

Oh, by the way, The Bullet is custom made. It is injection molded and designed to score cards. The Guide has also been custom made so that you just slide the card in and score. Quick and easy. For years, in my own work, I used a ruler to score the cards. The guide is 1000 time easier and faster! I initially came up with the idea to make my Mercury Fold perfect every time but the byproduct is that it also makes it easy too.

Alex, the idea for the Guide is from Cosmo. I reproduced the guide with his blessing and he is credited on the Bullet DVD. But essentially the guide is the same design. I made mine clear so you can see the card in the guide. It's a small difference but it's nice to be able to see the card is sitting flush in the guide.
