Hi Guys, just wanted to give you a heads up for Tom's latest release, SPEEDBANDS.
With Tom's system you can tie your own IET bands on the fly faster than ever before, saving you time and money. The project includes a spool of ITR thread with enough to make around 400 wrist bands. Tom's record is 9.66 seconds, can you beat him? SpeedBands is presented by one of the world’s leading experts on invisible thread effects – Tom Wright. Tom reveals his own technique to create I.E.T. Bands with no additional gimmicks or large, difficult to carry, specialised equipment. The Bands are fully adjustable with Tom’s technique meaning that you can effortlessly create smaller wristbands or larger body bands. In fact with this technique you can create any size band for any effect! All you need is the custom made reel, invisible elastic thread and the putty supplied to create bands in less than ten seconds! As a bonus to the SpeedBands technique, Tom reveals his incredible version of the Rising Cards – Dead Rising. The deck is isolated in a wine glass, the spectator’s card rises and then flies through the air back to your hand! Everything is immediately examinable! SpeedBands will save you so much money and even more time. Easy to master and for the first time ever I.E.T. magic is worry free! “I could not believe how fast Tom was able to tie a fully adjustable band. Following his Magic Circle lecture people could not stop raving about it.” Wayne Fox “I have seen every technique to tie I.E.T. Bands and this is by far the best.” Matthew Underhill – Creator of “ONE’ – The Ultimate Wedding Effect |

This looks great. I've always had trouble with thread work. Maybe this is the answer. And body bands Is a cool concept I've never thought of. Will this be available only at world magic shop?

Looks very nice! I've always been a fan of loops but I lose them all the time. This is a great idea and very practical.

Magicboy, there are "invisible elastic treads" and they stretch like a rubber band would (some more invisibly that others, and some more fragile) but "invisible elastic thread" is not what people refer to as "invisible thread" or IT.) IT varies in invisibility but it is a static line that does not stretch. You make a 4 in loop of it, you only get 4 inches (a 4 in IET will stretch far beyond that.) IT in a "reel" will have a tension that acts somewhat as a "flexible stretch" but that is only by feeding more out and letting it retract back to the reel. Not the same (but again, you could create "similar effects") IT can also be set up without a reel as a "static hook-up" (very popular) where there is the length you set in advance between 2 anchor points and that is all you get. I hope this helps get the language correct so you can get to what you are essentially asking. And since you both have way more than 50 legit posts on the Café, you might want to check out the sub-forum "Threads, Reels and Anchors" near the very bottom of the site and only open to people with 50+ posts. There are a few people there who have a very vast knowledge of threadwork (in all forms) who would be more than happy to help you out and can go into more detail than in this forum. Good luck, It is very confusing at first but both make for some excellent magic presentations.

(I originally mistook your reply as literal instead of "also") I see so many new people that get confused on the two (I get a ton of PM's for some reason) that I was just trying to clarify that there was a difference for "newer folks in the IT / IET world" Anyway, no problem. Apologies for any misunderstandings of where I was going with my reply.

I don't work with IET, so I'm genuinely curious. Is it really that much of a problem to tie a knot?

The biggest problems in my opinion is getting the size to be right when the knot is done and tying a knot that will not come undone when stretched repeatedly. (let alone you must tie it so small it must also be invisible. There are several knot tying sources out there for sale and all work... some are better than others, some are faster than others and some are a great mix of the two (some, well you know... just suk). Most I have come across are very workable Penguins "Million Dollar Knot" Fearson teaches one with his IET purchases via a link and I personally own the Trinity System by Subdivided Studios along with their "on the go Emergency kit" where you can tie one off between tables if needed. I have not seen how this particular Knot system works but I am sure it is both fast and strong. Would like to see more than just a trailer before making a decision. Nothing at all personal about it, I have just had Trinity for so long and have never been let down, I am probably not his target audience. That being said, this Speedband system is about 1/3 to 1/4 the price I paid for Trinity Massive set on sale. My set came with two dvds and several effects. I do not know how many effects come with Speedbands. both systems a versatile enough and capable of making any size band from a very small childs wrist size to a full body band though. I would have to check out the full product to do a fair review. This is based on what I know for sure about Trinity System (and various knot tying vids for sale) and the little I have read and seen about Speedbands. Yet I would pretty confidently say, You wouldn't go wrong trying it out if you are looking for an IET tying solution.

Any tips on how to make the knot not so visible?
|
|||||||||
David Sangwell Regular user 101 Posts |
@reignofsound the knots aren't too visible anyway but if you're worried about them make sure they're on the back of your wrist so the knot is not 'floating' if that makes sense and you'll have no worries!

Well, here we are just a bit over a year later. Has anyone done a review on this system - especially the IET that comes with it in comparison to the other more common IET's out there such as Yigal's "Loops", Legacy 2.0, Fearson Mono and Fearson EVE... There is only one review on Penguin and it is not really helpful (on this part).
