It is finally here.. I am extremely proud to present my latest project: The UBT. This has been in the works for quite awhile, and I'm really glad this is finally coming to fruition. Now available for purchase here: http://doubledmentalism.blogspot.com
One of the easiest and most natural tears you will ever learn! Performance Video: https://youtu.be/ZVN3CZ31xvU For more than two years I've been using this practical tear to perform powerful and direct mentalism. For a long time I've kept this completely to myself, but it's come time to share this with all of you! Imagine a tear where in just two simple tears you get your peek and the dirty work is done. Imagine a tear where you can show all sides of the paper as you tear, meaning no heat is on you because the participant sees exactly what you see. Yet you are easily able to peek 50% of the entire paper! Imagine a tear that is incredibly easy yet very powerful and clean. This isn't one of those complicated tears with lots of steps.. This is a tear for magicians, mentalists, hobbyists, beginners and professionals! Everyone wants to be able to read minds, and everyone wants to do it cleanly, quickly, and easily. The UBT is arguably one of the best ways to accomplish those goals. Don't just take my word for it.. See what others are saying about the UBT! Millard Longman - "Very nice; I like it!" Titanas - "From all of the real time peek CT's I have seen, this is probably my favorite and it's very natural looking!" Luca Volpe - "Good job my friend!" Ran Pink - "I know how it feels to tear thousands of business cards, honing the moves, coming up with a twist and a turn, and I know how great you must feel right now so congrats. Good work Dustin!" Dr. Spektor (Magic Café) - "The mechanics are beautiful.. I look forward to further developments of your project! And again, I truly am honoured you included me in the fold. (ha!)" Greg Arce - "Well, here we have a new CT. For those that are on the look-out for a new version then this will gladly fit into your arsenal. It's easy to do and easy to learn. It's definitely worth a look." Banachek - "Looks great.. Thanks so much for sharing." Sasha Crespi - "You guys aren't ready for this. Simply one of the finest centre tears I've (n)ever seen." Jakob Michaels - "Your center tear is a really interesting oddity.. This is going straight into my work." Andreu - "Wooooooooooow, freaking awesome!" Robert "Red Devil" Cosley - "The peek is inherently VERY natural. I love it actually, and I have gone through about a 100 cards so far playing with it. Kudos, and you definitely have my vote. I am very grateful that you shared it with me." Oz Pearlman - "The idea behind this is terrific and the execution seems quite intuitive. This is definitely a bold and new evolution in instant access tears." Included in this $15 ebook are two full fledged bonus routines and an invitation to a private Facebook group to discuss further ideas and tips! Best wishes, Dustin Dean |

My 100 cards have turned into 1000 since I first sent those thoughts several months ago. I am very glad that Dustin shared this with me. I like it very, very much. I have developed a few variations of presentation with it that are different than Dustin's. Little things, like holding it in a different orientation when I do the tears. I have to say, this specific tear immediately resonated with me, and I haven't used another one since.
Like every tear, it has its pro's and con's, but the criteria I use for a good tear are few: Do I feel comfortable and congruent performing the mechanics while presenting? Is the spectator convinced that the tear had nothing to do with the information being obtained? In my mind, those are the only two criteria I need for adopting a center tear. PS. I just scrolled up to the link and realized Dustin is selling this for $15. I know people say this too much, but if you want a tear, this is a crazy cheap price. Dustin, I actually think you have screwed up, as most would've paid 25-30 for this. PSS...Dustin and I don't know each other and I have nothing to gain from this. He was kind enough to send a few things to me over the past year, and we would correspond from time to time. I am writing this today because I enthusiastically like this tear.

Thank you both for the kind words.
Yes this is only 15 bucks.. I may be slightly crazy, but I think everyone will love the value they are getting with this. |

Hey guys,
You'll get more than $15 worth of value out of this sinister little thing. It's a single visible tear that allows you a great opportunity to perform the technique classically delayed done or with the new oh so hip instant access. I actually love using this for the prior because it offers me more moments for my internal script to be in sync with my patter (that probably makes no sense, but I don't care). Look, this is just another tear, but it's a REALLY nice tear and one that I have been using and have had great experience using. The additional ideas in the .pdf are incredibly clever as well, so if you're someone looking for new presentations then you will still be happy. Pick it up and show Dustin some love, you'll thank me that you did. XX, -Jakob |

What makes this any better than the PCT. Would any of those who endorsed it actually change what their using now, especially Oz.
"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "

Thanks Jakob! You actually just blew my mind because I never thought of using it with the classic retention.. It works perfectly!
I may have to add that to the private Facebook group as an additional idea. Awesome stuff. |

On Nov 1, 2015, Steven Conner wrote: Well I'll start off by saying, nothing makes this any better than the PCT. I also don't think the PCT is any better than mine. I see all tears as equal in value, just catering to different preferences. For example, the PCT was the first instant access tear I learned and I just couldn't get the knack of it. Therefore, I created my own that made it much easier for me so I never had to look while I was tearing. The biggest difference between them, is well, the mechanics of course.. But also mine is better used with business card stock. The PCT is better used for regular paper. So really, it's just preference. Also, this ebook contains two bonus routines.. "Underground Manoeda" which combines Ever's Prop-less which hand routine with my tear, and RedDevil's "Birthday Card" which is a really great drawing dupe with a killer prediction. These are worth the price alone.. I can't really answer your second question because I don't know.. Haha. Hope this helps though. |

The Underground Center Tear is very very good, I loved it since the first time I saw it.
The tear and the folding is very natural and it looks so inocent... this is one of my favorites tears along with the Dr's billet tear. Simply awesome. You did a pretty good job D. And Dustin added his own version of Manoeda using the UBT and it's just amazing! Best wishes. Ever.

Thanks Ever! And thank you for allowing me to share a version of your wonderful Manoeda routine!
Also I don't think I mentioned this in the ad, but an instructional video is also included within the ebook for easier learning. |

Hi Dustin,
What does this tear offer that others don't? Is it easier to learn or maybe more deceptive? Does it has an in-built misdirection / justification to cover the p*** action? Can I do it with post-it notes? Sorry if I asked too much. I'm fairly new when it comes to tears. Currently, I'm using sw**** for delayed and Richardson's tear for instant. Regards, SH
May you live in interesting times.

Hey there Sam.
I'd be happy to answer your questions! I honestly hated using tears. I couldn't get the knack of any of them out on the market.. Not only that, but the justifications just weren't doing it for me. So, I created my own! And it turned out that not only was this tear better for me, but many others enjoyed it as well! I created a tear that was so incredibly easy to do that I could do it with my head turned away, and my eyes closed. I never have to look at the billet. The tear was originally created for its deception.. In the original variation, I would turn the paper around after each tear showing my participant what I see so there is no way I could be peeking (or so it seemed..). After some great advice, I turned away from using that variation and went for the quick straightforward tear. I include both in the ebook. I also include my justification on using a tear, and a whole section on the "why." As I feel that is just as important as the actual mechanics. Not only that, but I include two bonus routines that are seriously amazing.. And an invitation to a private Facebook group where members can share their own thoughts and routines. As for using it with post-it notes.. Could you do it? Yes. But should you? Probably not.. It's much easier to use thicker card stock. Business cards being ideal, where as index cards would work okay as well. Anything as thin as regular paper won't be easy but plausible. All tears give you the same thing.. A way to access information. Its really all about preference. If you are using one you are comfortable with, then that's great! That's all that matters. But if you're still searching, mine is worth a shot! Warm regards, Dustin Dean |

Hey guys,
Alex here. This is my review of Dustin Deans UBT new reléase. I had Heard of Dustin before and have seen him here on the Café, but I had never read any of his work. What you get is a 55 page ebook detailing everything you need to know about UBT. Dustin does a good job at getting permission to include several things on here that arent his, as well as crediting and trying to find out the exact originator and creator of an effect. You get the overall introduction to UBT, and then he goes over the handling. Basically, it is a tear, that is a mix between a Osterlinds and Ran Pinks. There is also lots of inspiration in this work from Millard Longman. I am a huge advocate of AN, and have been doing it for the past several years, ever since learning it way back when, and have even performed it with skeptics watching me, and still no clue. UBT reminds me a lot of AN, as well as the tears I mentioned above, but this is very very clever. I will add it to the arsenal of tolos available that one should have at all times as a performer, and use this in different situations. I initially had a bit of trouble understanding, but the great part about this is that Dustin includes a video demo of the effect very quick, and quick explanation as well so you can grasp it easily. I have already ripped up many blank stock business cards practicing this, and this is really great. If you already know Ran Pinks, Osterlinds, or a center tear, this is another one that is good to have to mix and match during performance. What I also like about the overall method is that your head is turned away during it, and so the spectator will never know if and when you did something, because it mainly just looks so innocent.....you take their card back, rip it up, and hand it back to them. There are other variations of routines in the ebook, one called Manoeda by Ever Elizalde, and a variation using the UBT. There is a routine by Oliver Boes, called the 10 Sec Star Sign Reveal which is something cool, but using the UBT more surefire There is also a routine by RedDevil, Robert, called the Bday Card, and this is something that I will def use. It is perfectly choreographed, because it is a mix between a bday reveal, and a drawing duplication if you can call it that, and uses the UBT move as well. All in all, this is a great piece of kit that you receive, and Dustin is very helpful in whatever you may need. I think this is worthy of anyones time, and also you may gain something from it, I know I did. Thanks Alex

Thank you for that thorough review Alex, I'm glad you enjoyed it!
And yes definitely check out both Olivier's 10S Star Sign Reveal, as well as Ever Elizalde's Manoeda for all of the extra subtleties they provide. PS. I've had some people ask where the "add to cart" button is on my site. If you are on a phone it won't show up on the mobile site, so scroll all the way down the webpage and hit "web version." The option to pay will be on the right side of the webpage. Hope this helps. |

I just got the final version from Dustin and I am really impressed with the hard work he put into it.
There are many "influences" in this idea but I loved the spin he gave to it. I wish you all the best with this release!

This routine combines Ever Elizalde's propless Manoeda routine with my tear to create an incredible miracle. Not only are you able to divine which hand an imaginary coin is in, you are also able to divine the date they are imagining on the coin as well! The second is RedDevil's "Birthday Card" routine. This routine is insane.. And completely impromptu. It has three phases: First you are able replicate a specific image they think of. Next, you are able to show them you predicted that image all along since the beginning. And finally.. You are able to reveal their date of birth! All with using my tear and a principle made by my good friend, Olivier Boes. -Dustin |
