Lee,

What are your thoughts on S.W. Erdnase. Do you think he was a legendary cardsman? Who do you think Erdnase really was? Do you find this mystery interesting?

Thanks

Lee,

I seem to recall reading somewhere about the Erdnase mystery.

Do you have an answer as to who actually wrote the book?

There was a decent amount written on Erdnase but I have no clue who he was. All I know is that whoever he was, he possessed a great deal of knowledge on the subject of card cheating and detailed it on paper in the most eloquent fashion. I don’t know if he knew he would be held in such high regard at the time he was writing ‘Expert At the Card Table’ but I think he knew he would certainly have an influence on everything after 1902. It is the card man’s Bible and will continue to be for a very very long time.
