Hi guys,

I am interested in purchasing a levitation like Spontus 360.

Has anyone dealt with the guys at Spontus? Thing is I have sent 2 emails and am getting no reply.

Advice anyone?

I am looking for a levitation that I can do with someone from the audience, or myself. Something as small and compact as possible and something that is a full levitation so not something like a chair suspension or broom suspension.

Like I say I love Spontus but can't get a reply.

Cheers,

MJ

I know of no audience member illusion other then the Flying Carpet, Super-X, Chair suspension and/or visible sewing, either with the hand bow saw or the saber saw. Anything else and the audience member will know what is going on.

All other illusions the assistant will be aware of what she has to do in order for the illusion to work.

Maybe they thought your were joking with them.

If you plan to do this with a lady volunteer, it is very uncomfortable and she will be lying down with her head and legs down. Better just use a trained lady assistant instead. I just use mine with kids. A Gamolo levitation is more ideal for a lady volunteer.

I sent him a few emails last year and he responded to all my questions. It may take him awhile, but give him some time.

I'm still on the fence on this illusion though. What Lou mentions about how uncomfortable this will be for a lady volunteer is a concern. But is the illusion memorable and convincing to the audience? Is the illusion practical and a worthwhile investment?

I own the Spontus 360 and I am very happy with it. I actually have the fully programmable version so you can customise the speed / timings and create exactly the up and down sequence that you want. And you can have multiple programmes. For example you can have one programme with a more complexe levitation if using your own assistant and another programme more simpler to be used with a spectator. But honestly the whole strength of the Spontus 360 is to use it with a spectator. It is true that it is not very comfortable but if the person is reasonably fit, it will work fine. I like to pick someone beforehand and ask if he or she wants to take part to the illusion. I also check they don't have any back or neck problem.

The Spontus 360 also came with an adapter to do an sit-down levitation on your own.

The build quality of the illusion is really good.

Regarding Olivier, the inventor and builder of the Spontus 360, he was very busy end of January and away from his workshop. I hire him for some mega-illusion project. I guess maybe that's why he didn't reply to you.

I didn't know him before ordering the Spontus. My experience with his customer service has been second to none. I ordered the fully programmable version of the Spontus and when I received it, it was actually the standard model. So what did he do? He flew halfway around the world to come and install the programmable version on my Spontus Levitation. You won't get this type of service if you buy the Chinese copy for sure!!

Incidentally the Chinese copies I have seen on the web, seem to be almost the same price as the original Spontus 360, strange!

How loud is Spontus 360? Do you have to have a loud music cue to cover it?

It is so quiet the music playing from a small iPod dock would cover the mechanism. It is almost silent and with enough background noise, you could perform it close-up! A lot of details have gone into the design. He even used teflon for some parts connected together to make it more silent.

By the way, I believe Olivier the inventor and manufacturer of the Spontus 360 is no longer a member of the magic Café. He got banned after getting angry about people copying his illusion. I can somehow understand. They are making copies in Eastern Europe and Asia. I believe the Chinese copy is very noisy. Anyway I would touch it. And I you want customer support for your illusion, he is excellent. Anything happens to your Chinese levitation, you are on your own!

Hi everyone.

I too am very interested in this grand illusion. A few questions please:

1) Does anyone in the UK have this? The reason I ask is that I need to see 1 first before committing to buy. The illusion is for an unusual show so would like piece of mind that this illusion will fit the bill.

2) Does anyone use this on their own eg the self levi with the special plate? How easy or difficult is it to trigger the rise etc?

Thanks very much indeed.

Neil.

Hi Neil,

I might play the devils advocate...So please don't take it bad...

But when you say you would like to now if this particular illusion will fit your show, I don't really get it... You've seen the effect that the audience see's, so I guess this isn't really a problem...

If you want to have it fit into your show, it might be more a question of the design and the look of the prop, which is a pure material question. In this case, I would suggest to contact the illusion builder and ask him if he could change the look of the table to suit your show, your stage set up and your stage design.

I think he might be the best person to tell you what is possible to do and what's not.

At the end you'll take the final decision to buy the prop or not.

Best luck in your research, Smile

Hiya Oliver.

No problems, I see very clearly where you're coming from Smile

Basically am looking to include a static character behind me stood on his feet, whereas I will be sat down on top of the box, resting on the special plate. The illusion will be built into the top of the main box and I just want piece of mind knowing the levi will be suitable or not.

If your still not sure, no problems, don't worry, I'll contact the builder.

Kind regards,

Neil.
