Meant for Trick Coin Trickery folks too, but I posted a newer recap review of Triception by Mark Mason and Bob Swadling along with pix of my Quarter, Walker and brand new Morgan set I have accumulated over the years. One of the best "bang for your buck" sets money can buy. I felt it important to re-hash sets such as this as we have new members joining all the time and even though these sets are well known to us, a new coin guy may never find this hidden gem until they spend a ton of money piece meal. Hope you enjoy the review, feel free to ask questions on either thread or via PM.

There are some really great products out there. That's why I took me 3 months to even make a decision on what to start with. There is a lot of stuff for the money in this set. Thanks for the review. It seems that when people ask "Who is the best gaffer?" some only mention Kuepper, Lassen, and Schoolcraft. I never forget to tell them to consider Mason/Swadling as well.

Have any examples of what they can be used for?

Over two hours of knockout magic. Assuming you add a few matching ungaffed coins there are coins across routines, coins thru table routines, coin thru glass, something like Eric Jones OxyClean routine (some steps would need to be altered), matrix routines, coin vanishes, appearances, etc etc etc. Routines may rely on the magnetic properties to get the job done or simply for more efficient access/ditching. |

Hi, Poof-daddy
Do Mark Mason and Bob Swadling make this gaff with any currency? one thing it stop me from approaching other dealer is that few of them do not accept any custom works if they do, I might get them to make this set with Barber for me. |

Has anyone been able to perform Oxyclean with a Triception set? I'm having mag**tic issues.

You can do Oxyclean if you just use a non shimmed shell. If you don't have one or want to buy one then you could always find a way to "VERY GENTLY" remove the shim from the Triception shell. I say "very gently" because you can tape it back in with some mouse tape or optically clear teflon tape to take advantage of the Triception set. I have a couple extra shells that are not shimmed which Is great because I "mix and match" the props all the time for different effects.

I have Mark Mason and Bob Swadling Shell Shocked and Triception liberty half sets and they are both very nice..lots of routines you can do with them...I also like the Johnson sets for the money and in general they are good value for the money but I have to admit I did get a Scotch and Soda set from them that has a wobble problem..

After trying lots of different stuff I've finally decided that I like Johnson products the most. Fantastic value for money!! Their HH sets are great, and can be used in lots of different ways. I also tried several different CSB sets but have found that the standard Johnson gaff is generally superior in quality and appearance when nested.
Also a great company who are currently helping out with the pandemic. For myself, having decided to streamline and simplify, I'm sticking with my Johnson stuff plus the awesome C/S gaffs supplied by MC member Twocan, which I also love. BW Steve |

Twocans C/S are very nice...
I would second the vote for Johnson products. I do have a lot of Johnson products and all but the one are very good and good value...anyone can have a bad one in the batch every once in a while and the Scotch and Soda with the wobble is the only one of all the Johnson products (and I have a lot of them) that had an issue. They do have a lifetime guarantee but emailed Kathy and they are busy making parts for respirators at the moment and I think you have to pay the shipping both ways so for the price of a Scotch and Soda was not sure it was worth messing with. I just bought another one which gives me a spare coin...the one with the wobble is not un-usable you just have to be aware when you are doing certain moves. |
