Hi guys, this blackpool was relased our new routine from me Steve Cook and Paul Mc Caig "Travel in Mind"
You can see the promo here: http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/S20642 Is a multiple fase routine for stage or close up. I know that some people already got it in Blackpool so hopefully they will give a full review and routining.

Luca, could you please describe the routine in more detail? The cards look nicely produced but I have no idea what the actual effect is.

Hello,
Cards looks great... but can you tell us, if we need necessarily a table. If this is "yes", I can't practise on close-up or cocktail. |

This looks good and I am sure the quality is excellent, but would like to know how flexible the effect is. Can it, for example, be adapted and be used on a one to one basis or does it always require 4 participating spectators?
I also like the theme but would welcome just a bit more info. Neil |

This looks great, but as others have hinted, I'd like to see a proper demo of the effect.

The main effect is not designed to perform to one or two participants but a minimum of three, ideally four, using the sixteen destination cards provided:
The participants are informed that they are the lucky recipients of a virtual holiday to any one of sixteen countries around the World...a virtual holiday! The performer clearly shows each of the sixteen destination cards, which have the name of the country and national flag on one side, black on the other and which are not marked or stacked in any way, then nominates one of the 'lucky winners' as the trip organiser. The destination cards are mixed face down, the trip organiser mixes them further and is asked to distribute four of each destination, in any random order, face down, to each of the participants, including them-self. The performer genuinely doesn't know which participant receives which of the sixteen destinations. Each participant is instructed to mentally select one of the four destinations in their procession but not to give any visual clues at all and when happy, mix their cards again and pass back to the trip organiser where they are mixed face down once again. The performer then proceeds to reveal each mentally selected destination without asking any questions, pumping or fishing, there are no peeks and nothing is written down. There also two very nice follow-on bonus phases from Luca, one of which uses the 'Boarding Pass' cards included, the other utilises an inexpensive vinyl passport wallet, which can be easily obtained via the internet. All three phases can all be done in the hands of the participants and performer but the use of a table or a hard surface such as a book, is recommended for the main effect reveal. Travel In Mind incorporates our adaption of a little known and very deceptive, versatile principle, which can be transferred to other mind reading ideas should you wish. Hope that helps. Paul Mc.

So -- from the video demo, and the post above, the 16 destination cards have uniform black backs.
But some cards appear to have airplanes and cruise ships on the back. Are these cards needed for the main effect, or just for the extra phases? Thanks for clarifying! |

Hi jerdunn.
The main phase is a very strong stand-alone effect, which can be performed as a serious piece, using just the 16 destination cards with the black backs. However, should you prefer a more light hearted, fun approach, which is equally as strong, then you can make use of the four 'Boarding Pass' cards and four 'Modes of Transport' cards. The 'Boarding Pass' cards are also used as part of Luca's second phase routine. Paul Mc.

I received this today. The cards are nicely produced with a professional laminate finish. The main routine -the revelation of four destinations- is based on Poker Mental in principle but is well disguised because you are apparently further mixing the cards. The routine is a little "mental magicy" for my taste yet I can see how this would play well in casual situations. Note: they also supply 4 modes of transportation cards. I did not like these cards and will not be using them.
The second effect Psychometry (think Sneak Thief) is worth the cover charge. It uses four Boarding Pass cards that are cleverly marked. These would be excellent for revealing names or destinations around the world. The best part is that they look like something that you may might have made yourself and will definitely pass examination. The last effect was sort of a throw in that I didn't particularly care for but stretches the value. Now here's the REAL hidden gem about these cards and it was not even mentioned in the download. Due to the glossy finish if you were to ask a spectator to shuffle the cards then lift off a stack and note a country, you will be able to glimpse the selection due to the black mirror-like finish. Obviously I haven't had a chance to try this yet but in theory I can see this as an effective one ahead ploy for a parlor/stage show or even a one of revelation in a walk-around setting. The procedure is squeaky clean because the cards can be thoroughly mixed by the spectator and they are not marked. I'm pretty sure that the average mentalist will find value in these cards even if they don't like the main effect. My only wish is that they included 8 more to make it a set of 24 cards, even if they aren't needed for the main routine. The cards themselves are so nice on their own. Note to Luca...make a bonus set of 8-12 cards of other countries please!!! |

Hi Jared thanks for your review is really appreciated is a great honest review and we always listen our customers.
About the glossy finish I was speaking about that few days ago with a friend of mine, he told me the same thing, I am sure that this routine will inspire a lot of new ideas and hopefully the people will share with us so that we can make a bonus pdf for all the purchaser. About the extra card I wish I can help you but trust me to make this set, the routines etc.. It was like having a baby! Lol.... Btw... This is a very important news: Titanas come up with a crazy and clean handling that will destroy completely what we Know about this principle, he fooled us badly (I think greek food is good for the brain!) so Paul is recording next week this extra bonus link that will be added to your link page on Murphy.

Thanks Luca. I'm looking forward to his contribution. Like I said, many mentalists will find many applications for these cards than only the supplied routines. Heck, you could just pass the cards around and have four people write their countries down on the boarding pass cards and reveal them a la Sneak Thief. You really can't go wrong with this purchase.

Thank you Jared,
Over the last 9 or 10 months or so of road testing, Steve, Luca and myself are very pleased with how the many facets, principles and versatility of Travel in Mind, seem to appeal in it's purest form to the serious Mentalist, whilst the more light hearted multi-phase routine, using the props included, to other performance styles. As Luca mentioned, Titanas showed us a very nice nuance in a bar at Blackpool last weekend, which I will be including in an additional performance video shoot tomorrow. Hopefully we will be able to get this uploaded to the Travel In Mind instructional video page over at Murphy's next week, as well as posting the basic performance video here on the Café. Paul Mc.
