Just a quick post to say well done to Stuart Burrell for winning "The Mick Hanzlik" award for the best escape at the U.K.E.A (United Kingdom Escape Artists) AGM yesterday. The award was presented by 2 of Micks daughters, Louise and Stephanie. Stuart performed a fantastic inverted chain mail straitjacket escape!

Way to go Stuart,
Rock on! (I don't feel comfortable saying break a chain in an escape from a chain-mail straitjacket)

His finest escape yet with the acting of a pro...... Red face near to passing out while everyone just sat there and cheered !! Yes he got my vote it was remarkable entertainment....I thought my knickers would never dry !!! Hell if I ever feel low I think of this. God knows how this can be topped next year but I for one will not dive in to give him the kiss of life !! Never seen an award given for this but it was well deserved,,,,,escape no,,,entertaining hell yes

Being an old theatre student, it has meaning for me, being a whimsical variant of "break a leg."
Lighten up.

Cliff, you should never feel comfortable saying that, it a terrible saying and is meaningless to all but you. Ian are you aware that by your statement "It is a terrible" saying," you are not saying "I don't like it." If you said you did not like it, that would be your opinion. You are of course entitled to your opinion as is everyone else. By saying It is terrible, you are making a value judgement which you are applying to the entire human race. This you are not entitled to do. I have the same issue with music. Many people are comfortable talking about one band or another and say "That music sucks." No it does not suck. The truth is that they don't like it. They are allowed not to like it; just as I am allowed to like it as well. Now, once and for all... Why do I say break a chain? As Steve pointed out, it is a take off of the time honored theater slogan of "Break a leg." The idea of wishing someone engaging in a physically strenuous and potentially dangerous activity to Break a leg doesn't sit well.... So I changed it to suit my own purpose. Anyone who does not care for it, need not use it.
