Saysold1,

I totally agree that this is an impressive trick. As I've said, I think it's GREAT!
But my sole intention (besides learning the method) was to use it in a public setting to attract attention BY WEARING THE BLINDFOLD.
I don't want to do it without the blindfold.

Now, I remember Richard Osterlind saying how he wears glasses & when he uses his blindfold (without his glasses on), his vision is sharper. Well that didn't work for me. I couldn't see what I was supposed to. maybe it also has to do with the bridge of each person's nose but for me, no luck.

I hate to sell it but I think that's the route I'll be taking.
Still, thanks for your thoughts & suggestions. Out Of Sight is sure to line up right next to the Invisible Deck is the history of classic card tricks!

Why not simply mark every Ace with a bump you can feel. When you feel the correct bump for the certain ace, simply count to the correct card

Definitely worth a try. A hint, you would have to prepare 6 bumps if I see it right.

The more expensive way: contact lenses?!

I do NOT mean to sound negative - I seriously think this is a great trick - but I will probably sell it because of the 'glasses/blindfold' situation.

Yes, I know about Josh's alternative ideas for those that wear glasses like me (I watched the online video addendum) but the main reason I bought the trick was for the 'scene' of being seen in a public place with people gathered around while you are doing something amazing blindfolded. I wanted to used this trick to create that moment.

I was so excited about finding out the method that I overlooked the blatant fact that I would have to take my glasses off. Of course I had no clue that I would be needing to see while performing this.

(Mostly angry at myself.)

Respectfully, I gotta ask: Seriously? If Par Optic Vision can be done without a blindfold, then I'm pretty sure this can be done without a blindfold, too. In fact, even though I do wear glasses I would prefer to do this WITHOUT a blindfold because of all the corny "50 Shades" jokes that won't go away. And as others have said, I also agree it would be a stronger effect if I wear glasses. Worst case, I get some disposable contact lenses and do this outside with non-prescription sunglasses -- the timing of this releases couldn't get any better as we get into summer. And doing this outside, where there's more distraction, would eliminate the whole "hearing" thing.

My main concern is: will these fit in a standard Bicycle card box?

yes, same box size.
But... give the Phoenix Decks a try at least, you will be astound about the many benefits compared to a Bicycle Deck: www.release-the-power.com
There is a reason why Joshua Jay for instance is using Phoenix Decks for years now, or Shin Lim and others...

MadisonH,

Great idea! I was thinking of just counting but then I thought it might be too risky for my 59-year-old brain. Your idea of a Ted Lesley bump may be a game changer for me.

Card-Shark,
Great work on this deck! And thanks for pointing out 6 bumps. I get it. Contact lenses? Good idea but I could never get them in! I even have trouble putting eye drops in!

Just a reminder to those reading my above posts: I wanted this STRICTLY TO GARNER ATTENTION from onlookers. That's what the blindfold would provide.

THANK YOU GUYS!

Just saw those magical words "Out for delivary" on the USPS site! I will post a review today.

Good magic to all,

You've got me quite curious now about 2 things:

1. What is this about drawing attention in public with a blindfold? I guess a street act of some type.

2. The emphasis seems to be on having a reason to wear a blindfold not on this routine, which begs the question of why you are so concerned whether this routine will work for you or why you even bought it in the first place. There must be a thousand other reasons that could be used to justify the blindfold.

No street act. Just casual bar hopping or venturing in casino restaurants & doing it spur of the moment as a marketing ploy so that onlookers can (hopefully) say, "look at that guy! What's going on in there?"

There are tons of other effects that could justify a blindfold, but Josh has hit a grand slam out of the stadium with this effect!
I already mentioned why I bought it in the first place.
Anyway, thanks to MadisonH's suggestion, I will probably be hanging on to this soon-to-be-classic!

I'm really looking forward to receiving my deck now.

Out of curiosity . Will this deck last you a good while or will you need to replace it after normal usage?

Interesting thread with a number of both pros and cons.
I do wear glasses and doubt I can manage this without them but placed my order anyway! Smile
Looking forward to working with this deck.

Great effect. It reminds me of these two classics which are worth further study:

Hey, Acecardician, thanks for those references. One of the reasons the Café is such a great resource.

I got it and love it. My only concern is that over time I may need more spray or gimmicks as spectator may damage cards with usage. Any ideas on replenishing and or replacing the special stuff and cards???

You seemingly are new to Science Friction.
It does not wear out like normal roughing. Especially as you not rubbing the cards against each other like an ID but lift up the chosen one.

That is reassuring that they won't wear out. However, again, if a spectator bends a card or any gets damaged over time, it would be even more reassuring to know if double d***rr blanks can be purchased

Does anyone know if Josh teaches this same exact touting on his unreal set? Cause I was actually thinking of picking up the set, but I really wanted to learn this exact routine as well. I have talk about tricks where he teaches a variation of this where you name the card, reveal the blank deck but you don't end up with the card at the end. So I just wanted to check and make sure Josh teaches this routine and not some other variation of it.

Well I got mine today and as I thought I would...I love it! I do have a very minor thing to point out. When it comes to reset I feel there are cards that are in that top 13 that look a lot like the card you are trying to reset. Especially the spades. At first I thought this might be an issue with performing as well be realise there is enough distance between the look a like backs. The clubs and hearts are excellant the diamonds and spades are the ones that took some getting used to. Like I said its just a minor point but I did say Id give my opinion when I got this. For sure not even close to a deal breaker. These cards are great and I can't wait to test run it. Josh does an excellant job teaching this. All over I am very very pleased with this purchase.

Good magic to all,

Eric
