For me I dream is more mentalism and out of sight is more of a magic trick if you see what I mean. [/quote] Although the cards don't have to have been transformed into blanks..the premise can be how the participant was influenced to select the only face card in the deck.

I have seen and purchased many card tricks in recent years. I consider this clearly to be one of the best. I contacted Josh before I've seen this thread as I'm also a glasses wearer ;-) - and received great support.
Having started to perform this, I noticed in one occasion, that a second spectator took the whole deck after spectator 1 had squared it up, turned it vertically and "slammed" it on the table on the side obviously in order to "better/best square the deck" than spectator 1. By that, the surprise at the end has already been revealed to a part of the spectators. This is not such a big deal, it just hasn't made the surprise that strong. However, one thing happened - therefore I share this here - 1 of the gimmicked cards got loose due to this "strong hit" so it got partially visible when turning the cards at the end... I analyzed the situation for me afterwards - as this made me mad ;-) - and I noticed, that there was a second coincidence, the selected card was 9 of diamonds and the partially visible card after the "slam" was Ace of clubs. Anyone owning the trick, will know ... Having said that, I would like to somehow prevent any spectator to pick up the deck, while I turn away, with some (mis-)direction which seems to be hard, as you don't have this under your control in the moment of turning away when the spectator handles the deck. I had even shown with my hands how to square on the table during the explanation. Maybe it's just been a statistical bad random situation ;-) ... but any ideas, how you do this, would be welcome ;-) as the effect is *very* clever. |

It's the only reason I never purchased this or 'I hate card tricks'. Although both great effects I'm just too uncomfortable to allow specs to have control of a gimmicked deck whilst I look away.

Yep, one way of looking at it ;-) - but then no risk no fun ;-)
maybe there is an idea out there... |

I tried to understand what happened (with the cards you mentioned) and I did not understand fully (9D and AC).
Was there a problem of picking up the cards for the spectator after the first counting sequence? How about letting them deal the cards on top of the card case to make the pickup easier for them?! Is that going into the direction of your problem?

I'll share the details over a PM, as I wouldn't want to spoil how it works, if I spend more information ;-)
You're welcome to summarize in the public forum in a way you feel it is appropriate. |

Yeah best to keep this out of the hands of construction workers and MMA fighters.

I see, then one needs to ask for spectators profession within the script |

Lol. I just got a kick out of your post. It seems this guy was and is our worst nightmare for effects like this. I have had things happen that reminds me of what happened to you.

I need some help. Ive never done any blindfold work. But I am pretty sure this blindfold does NOT work for my head. I believe I need another type/style and was hoping someone could pm me, or point me in a direction to a little different style. I am NOT interested in the Steel Blindfold or duct tape blindfold. I want it to be a similar cloth style to what was provided. I look forward to any advice you can give.

I have the same feeling that I will never be able to do "the work" with the blindfold. I have two problems: The "window" I can see is a lot smaller than what Josh mentions in the video AND the blinfold is that tight for me, that it always really makes one eye blind. I guess I have to find a presentation to do this without a blindfold. But to Josh and Christian: Thanks for publishing this effect - great piece of magic! I hope I can find a good way to use it. |

Ordered Mentalists Dream See Thru blindfold...no good, you can see the eye holes...
Awaiting True Sight blindfold now, hopefully it works. Have the same issue as trickymagic, the included blindfold works too well... |

Regarding the blindfold: A bit further up in this thread on page 7 there is Josh's video link for glasses wearers. Check this one out, it is a good replacement idea for the blindfold work. I do it that way...
regarding my "slammer" experience: I've come up with an idea how to make it bullet proof for me even for this very rare situation I had. Christian "Card-Shark" supports, so I'm confident that this will work. will take a week, need to get s.th. And once again, if anyone reading this has got an idea with which story or handling one can even more closely guide the spectators, this would be cool to be shared. I just love this ingenious trick ;-) |

OK so received my pack last night and just blown away by the quality. I had expected a very different underlying special something to locate the card and the method is just perfect.
I think the blindfold will not work well with some face shapes and I will probably replace with something from a travel pack or a BA First class eyemask for a laugh - 'a first class trick'. The fact that JJ fooled the technician who actually built the deck for him when first delivered tells you all you need to know about the naturalness and power of this effect. Brilliant |

I wasn't going to order any more magic until I'd got a bit further through the box set of card trick DVDs I'm working on at the moment, but I just couldn't resist this in case it sells out and isn't available! I wear glasses, but hoping I can squint enough to see the details required. What might help is to actually make the area you can see through *smaller* and create a pinhole effect whereby the image becomes sharper... e.g. http://www.independent.co.uk/news/scienc......548.html I could be barking up the wrong tree though!
