I just picked up a Vanishing Life Savers set (where a roll of Life Savers candy goes into a brass bill-tube-like tube and disappears). It came with a single rather narrow ribbon-like rainbow strip of silk.
I'd like to obtain a pair of small rainbow silks (6"? 9"?), so that instead I can vanish one using a thumb tip and then have the other appear in the tube, so it seems to transpose with the roll of candy (which I then produce from a pocket, open, and share). But I'm having trouble locating a source for small rainbow silks (multi-colored, to suggest a parallel with the multi-flavored roll of Life Savers). Can anyone point me to a dealer or other source who can provide a couple of small rainbow silks? Thanks!

Give David Laflin a call. They sell it as a package, however they may have the streamers separately even though I didn't see it on their site.

The "Thumb Tip Streamer" might be ideal for that trick, since the colors are arranged in stripes rather than the usual circular rainbow silks.

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but yes, you can make one of those rainbow streamers vanish in a TT. Lots of performers do a vanish or appearance of a silk streamer ala TT. I'm referring to the rainbow streamers that are approximately 2"x34".
--> Rainbow TT Streamers on David Ginn's Website. Of course, you can use a square silk scarf, if that's your preference, but a rainbow color isn't too common in a size less than 18". (I've searched for them a few times.) As was mentioned above, Richard Hughes could custom make them for you in a smaller size. - Donald

Just out of curiosity, I did a computer search on Google for "lifesaver candy" and clicked on images. There are lots of photos of individual candies that would make a much better silk design than a rainbow for your particular trick. It is easy to print on silk from an inkjet printer (from http://www.dharmatrading.com/ ). If I had your problem, that's how I would solve it.

Diagonal stripes
All is left are only three color Red, Yellow, Blue in that order. I also have them in 18" and 36" with multiples hemmed as one. As you may know we no longer print good silks in China. Once the current inventory is gone they are GONE! (America is no longer a preferred customer.) |
