I need to replace the elastic cord in my Lipan card sword but none of the local stores sell it.
What size do I need to order online? |

You have to contact www.stevensmagic.com they are the sellers of this card sword in America. Email them to see if they have supplies. Last they mentioned when selling, everyone wanted replacement elastic, and they started to supply extra with the swords.
Julip Lipan passed away on November 4, 2009. So I would suggest, if Stevens cannot supply, find out if they know anything about a substitute. I suggest you contact Mark Stevens for help. |

Stevens magic emporium emailed me and said that they sell it and to give them a call, when I called they said it's been out of stock for years and that they have no clue what it was or where to buy it.....

You can get silver elastic cord at fabric stores, which I like best.

It really has little to do with a size, but what fits in the hole.
It should fit be the thickness of the hole, cloth covered. Contact Mark Stevens at Stevens Magic. |

Not sure what thickness you need but this would probably be a good start.

When I had to replace the elastic that came with my sword, I had a very difficult time finding a suitable replacement. Everything I tried that was of the correct diameter didn't have enough stretch. Everything that stretched enough was too big to fit into the sword. After much searching I finally found a shop that sold a Japanese brand of elastic that worked better than the original. So I bought all they had. They no longer carry this particular brand. So I have no idea where one would find it these days. Steven's even got a hold of me once as they had read a post here saying I had found suitable elastic. I pointed them to my source. But apparently they couldn't get any either.

That is exactly why the late Ted Leslie had to have his elastic custom made, luckily he had an elastic manufacturer in Germany. I wonder if anyone saved his elastic stock, or it hit a land fill. |

I know, it sounds similar, but it does have a different meaning Some elastic will easily stretch out to nearly twice it's length while other types and brands will go a third of its length or less. I found that much of the metallic elastic didn't have enough elasticity to work properly.

Just received an email promotion from Stevens Magic, they are advertising the Lipan word and it comes with a "refill pack".
Maybe now you can purchase a refill pack, I suggest you contact Stevens Magic as soon a possible. |
