Well, he hasn't done his over-the-shoulder instant change yet, so that'll probably be part of it, but there will have to be more.

I quite like him and he's clearly very talented as far as rubix cube goes; I'm just not convinced he left himself anywhere to go after a magical solve and beating odds of trillions to one. Surely its going to be really difficult to step it up with a rubix cube in a way the public and simon can appreciate

AGT did have all 36 final contestants on their site but since changed it back to 33.
I didn't know Steve already performed the instant change but they cut it for time. How did you learn about that? Jim |

What will be nice to determine is either Steve is a magician that is known for his Rubik cube trick and can do other tricks or is he the Rubik's cube guy and has to have in all his acts?
To win the show he'll have to higher the stakes, the competition in front of him is hard Can't wait to see what he prepared for the live shows, I enjoyed both his apparitions, now it's time to close it with an even more "Wowing" performance |

This next performance must be a turning point for Steven. As of right now he has Simon on his side. This could turn with his next performance. There seems to be much "magician's thinking" going on here. He needs to be thinking from the perspectives of the show, judges, at home audience, in-house audience and the producers. Rubik's will not advance him. While some here and Steven see it as more, new or advanced of what he has already done, the judges, audiences and producers will only see it as more of the same. He needs to be entertaining himself, not so reliant of his magic. It must play bigger. It needs to be more about him (and showmanship), than it. It can not be viewed as "more of the same."
It also needs to be something seen as a million dollar act and something that could be seen as a headliner in Vegas. I think he knows what needs to be done. He's been given a second chance. The question is can he get out of his comfort zone and make it happen? Simon can turn on him in an instant. |

Whenever I see people on those types of shows I always wonder what happens after they are on it. What type of events do they book, how does it effect their career in the short term and long term, etc etc. Any more questions you want to ask or you think would be helpful I would be more than happy to give some insight. From my perspective I have already won just by being on the show and getting some AMAZING publicity. I raised my rates slightly and have been booking more events that ever!!! Ever since I raised my rates a year and a half ago.. I was making a FANTASTIC living but wasn't doing as many events as a wanted. I got what I wanted and I now have almost too many events to do. Some months like November I will be in a Different state every few days doing shows. The show is very much a reality TV show. Producers have boxed me in as being the Rubik's guy. Even though during my show I perform 70 -80 percent non cube material. Personally I know I am not ready for the vegas and I don't necessarily want that. My ultimate goal is to have magic be my full time career until I can retire and live a very comfortable life. Whether that is by doing trade shows, corporate events, colleges, theaters or Vegas show I will be happy. I have a new Trick planned. It might backfire and the judges might not like it... it might work wonders and the judges love it. Still not entirely sure at this point. Moving on to the next round is not my focus. My main goal is to perform this routine to the best of my ability's and use all the exposure afterward to book a million more events and ride the wave long enough until I have to try something new or focus my efforts somewhere else. I can't control how America votes for me... so I will be my best and leave it to them. And I do disagree with your one statement. "Rubik's will not advance him". I have lots of confidence this new routine and I would put my money on, that if this trick goes well... I should advance. |
