I do not know where you can get a photo but you will find the performance in one of the Best Of Magic video series and since this is Moretti's Illusion and which is not on the market, it is not for you or me to learn.

Alexkrey and Magixspinx a photo of Hans coming out of the box at the conclusion of the trick can be seen at:
http://translate.google.com/translate?hl......oe=UTF-8 Dsilverfield and Magixspinx, as I mentioned in my post above, the two tricks (involved with the actual prop box itself) that he put together to pull off his routine were actually in print (and are still in print) for years before he started developing his routine using them. Then there is the escape from handcuffs and chains he performs while in the box (it is also in print and was well before he built the act). His routine, including the beginning showing the box empty (trick number one) and his coming out at the end with livestock and in full clown costume and make-up (still part of trick number one) are what makes the box illusion so strong. The actual piercing of the box with the swords (trick number two) helps make that ending (costume change and livestock) even that much more powerful. Frankly everything he does in the Box routine is in print somewhere if you can find it. The true genius of the man was he took some published ideas tied them together and put together a very unique and powerful routine. The BOX is a signature routine for Mr. Moretti. We should not be trying to replicate his routine. The challenge here is to NOT replicate his routine but to marry some secrets together in a unique way and make our own powerful signature pieces.

Richiardi's Buzz Saw has to rate as one of the greatest illusions of all time. And frankly his take on the broom suspension was incredible.
I totally agree with everyone on Moretti's Cardboard Box trick, it's killer. Doug Henning and later, David Copperfield walking through a Mirror, is solid and strong. Jim Steinmeyers Origami Box, though over done, is great. |

Asrah (and most other levitations, for that matter) is one of my favorites, and I think the Pendragons did a great (quick!) sub trunk. I've always liked Princess Tenko, too. I love Guy Hollingsworth's close-up... he just seems too honest to be trying to fool anybody!! With most magic, it's great whenever there's showmanship and presence. I don't necessarily think that bigger means better; the character of the performer has just always seemed more important to me.

I think the Pendragon's "clear" thin model sawing is one of the best performance pieces I have seen in years.
It's an excellent example of an effect that has been made better possibly as a result of advanced creative thinking resulting from exposure of the "original" modus operandi in the media. |

It was incredible to see in real life. It was so beautiful, and he did an excellent show. Not only were the tricks amazing, but the presentation was incredible. He's an all time favorite! |

My favorite illusion is a very simlpe one.David Copperfield talks about the magic of childhood. At one point he stands on a table, pulls up a cloth to cover himself, the cloth slowly lowers, and he is seen to have changed into a little boy. This basic illusion, combined with a stirring music score, great stage lighting, and superb stoy-telling,is a testament to Doug Henning's theory.Magic+theatre=art.

My favorite illusion is a toss up between Gregg Frewins double twister and DC's Laser illusion where he cuts himself in half and hobbles down the stairs. WoW!

My favorite is the "Aquarian Illusion" that Mark Wilson performed. This was the twist on the Metamorphasis illusion, locking a girl in a tank of water instead of a box or trunk.
Does anyone know who is performing this now? I already have a VHS of the Magic Circus, & an HBO special called "Mumbo Jumbo It's Magic". Whoever PM'ed me earlier, would you please resend? They apparently expired. Sorry! |

My favorite Illusion would have to be walking through the Great Wall of China...Seigfried and Roy interlude when the tiger comes out. Now that is just pure magic.

I'm not sure I have an all-time hands-down favorite, but there are several that are quite impressive. I was lucky to see Robert Harbin perform the Zig-Zag Girl on televison years ago and it was absolutely stunning.
I have to agree that a well-presented Asrah always gets a great response from an audience. And I have to add Jim Steinmeyer's clever Modern Art to the list. The visual design is just perfect...like a well-constructed and designed Zig-Zag, it looks impossible even when you know how it's done. Jeremy |

I would have to say that the Pendragon's Metamorphasis would have to be one of the all time greats. They not only made the magic look good, but made it faster than anyone before them.

Phatboi408, with all respect, I am curious about your statement that DC's flying is simple. Many of us know the basic methodology behind it but I wouldn't say that it is easy to perform. I think the beauty about it is that it looks very easy because of how perfectly graceful he looks when he performs it.
I find it very difficult to believe anyone who says that it is very easy... or it that just me? TM |

It would be hard for me to pin point an actual favorite illusion. However, if I had to do it, I would have to say that David Copperfield's Barclay House illusion is fantastic. A couple more of his that I like are "Lottery" (sweet methods of doing predictions) and the "Laser" (TV version looks the best). Apart from Copperfield, I like Andre Kole's stage version of the "Disappearance of the Statue of Liberty" and Lance Burton's "Sword Fight" illusion. I saw all of these live, except for the "Barclay House" (Darn it).
