Corpus Chirsti, Texas was the location for the recent T.A.O.M. convention and it was surprisingly good. The last one I attended there was in 2007 and it was without a doubt the worst magic convention I have ever attended for a variety of reasons. With that recent bad experience in the minds of many magicians, attendance was not expected to be very high. Especially when you couple that with the I.B.M. convention being in San Antonio, Texas in July and this event coming on the heels of the wildly successful and well-attended MAGIC Live! in Las Vegas. But the organizers were not deterred and they pulled out all the stops to make this a delightful and incredibly good convention with an attendance of about 250.
I would have to say that in particular, the three evening shows were all outstanding with not one act that was disappointing nor weak. All three were consistently good. And the professional close-up shows and the lectures were all equally consistent in their high standards. So Corpus Christi should be back on the map! The Magic Word Podcast posted four daily updates on the website, each being about an hour in length with lots of chats with interesting people who also gave some great tips. You can go back in the archives to listen to each day's podcast beginning with episode 317 and going through 320. They are all at http://themagicwordpodcast.com Of course they are always available, too, on iTunes, Stitcher, Feedpress and Tunein. Thanks for listening!
