For what it's worth, just a thin little lining of felt glued to the inside of the bottom of the bottles will GREATLY enhance the durability of the finish and help avoid having the bottles from "Talking."
Depending on the gauge and "Nesting Clearance" of your particular set of bottles, this may or may not be problematic for you, but it's certainly worth a try in my opinion. |

Good tip. I lined the tubes with adhesive felt but didn't think about the bottles.

Thanks for posting these. I hadn't seen a couple of them before and they're all quite wonderful. Also a great lesson in making the effect your own to really put it over. Remarkable how many performers use exactly the same plot and even same dialog/jokes, but how different Haney's freneticism and exuberance is from Burton's sophistication and wistfulness. And Pop's version is of course a masterpiece of comedy, timing, storytelling and audience engagement. Bears repeated viewing for the entertainment value alone, let alone the magic. The joke about the magician who created a two-bottle routine is hysterical. Again, thanks for sharing.

Mark Levenson ********************* That wasn't a joke. The history described is about the same timing, but all the rest is bogus. The Passe Passe Bottles was popular in the 1870's, and years later the comedy version. Then the Multiplying Bottles came about in the 1920's. The routine developed in the 1920's was the basis for Ken's routine. The Passe Passe Bottle was explained in Magic and Its Mysteries, by J. Dazley Theobald, 1880, p. 82. and in Greater Magic in 1876. https://geniimagazine.com/wiki/index.php......_Bottles |

The great comedy team Bud Abbott and Lou Costello in a television comedy skit using the Comedy Passe Passe Bottles. Enjoy!
