I don't have a huge range, but for me it's Mark Wilson's Course, Encyclopedia of Card Tricks and the Card College series.

The Amazing Miracles of Shigeo Takagi. I love this book! I love the beautiful Ton Onosaka illustrations and I love the elegant magic contained within its pages.
There is a phase in Takagi's linking ring routine where the magician unlinks his two rings but the spectator cannot unlink the chain of two. Instead of ridiculing the spectator, Takagi steps behind the spec and assists in unlinking the two rings. It utilizes a devious and subtle switch of the rings. I prefer this strategy to the part in Pop Haydn's routine where the spec is left standing there hopelessly tugging at that chain of two. There is phenomenal magic with silks, rope, cards, thumb tie, linking rings, and his famous Takagi cup routine. Takagi was a master, Japan's Vernon. |

Well, firstly, my own notebooks And then all the standard classics - more or less.

Every year I re-read Eugene Burger's Mastering the Art of Magic. It serves as a reminder of what is important in presenting magic. Great book.

Pure Effect and Absolute Magic by Derren Brown.
Alchemical Tools by Paul Brook. Pygmalion Effect by Aaron Alexander Other books I refer to when referencing methods or general research, but those I consistently look back at for their thinking.
