What, if any, hand treatments do you recommend for card work and why?

Before I handle my deck of cards I use fingertip moistener (Sortkwik) so it's easier to manipulate the cards.

What about glycerine? Avialable in pharmacies.

I have hands that change with the weather. During summer, it's ok...enough moisture for card work, but during the non-summer months, it's too dry. Using chalk all the time doesn't help either. But when my body temperature is up and my hands get a little moisture, I take the opportunity to play with the cards....
it seems like no matter what lotion you use, it's only a temporary solution and in 15 minutes, you need to reapply it again because it's now not on your hands, but all over the cards. |

Everyone always talks about the hand creams and jazz they use.
Here a novel tip: Wash you hands! I find clean hands are better than dirty hands and are better than creamed-up hands.

Underground, above ground, whatever. I don't need a label, thanks. |

The guy in our local magic shop said cards will absorb hand lotion.. I don't use it anymore.
Instead he suggested to let warm water run over your hands. Then take a towel and tap your hands several times. Don't dry them 100%, only tap them till they are almost dry. Another thing is glycerine.. but too much of it will make it absorb the wetness from your hands and not from the air, which is not good I'll shop for some glycerine today. Hope it's not that expensive.. |

I've tried a lot of different types of moisturizers and I found that "ELITE MAGICIAN'S HAND LOTION" is the best thing on the market today. It's cheap and a bottle of it will last for a very long time. Wash your hands with soap and water, dry them a bit and then spray some of Elite. Everything else just dirties up the cards and destroys them.
