One idea to consider to solve for the potential discrepancy is to tear off a legit corner of those 4 cards, stack them, and pinch them behind the card with your thumb. Then in the process of tearing up the card, you just take the necessary pre-ripped corner and move it into position among the torn up pieces in your hands. You could also maybe stick those extra pieces to the card using wax so you can handle it more freely. Overkill? Maybe... but something that might be worth exploring.

I would actually use scissors. It might sound daft but a small pair of blunt ended type would be easy to carry with you. There's a good reason to use them due to you tearing the card in so many pieces.

This will easily fool any spectator who has never seen a playing card before.

Doesn't make sense to only offer 26 gimmicks. And how many of those 26 cards could you hand out without suspicion?

The "normal" 5 was just a bonus idea to switch in those pieces and throw them on the ground in case anyone wants to look. |

I definitely got 52 gimmicks and then 4 normal cards. Sounds like you may be mistaken?

Not in my package. It was 26 cards in a plastic bag, not a full gimmicked deck. You had said you got an advance copy- maybe they sent you the refill deck, which I'm guessing will be available shortly like they did with Torando.

Did you buy yours second hand or something? They should have come in a box just like a normal deck.

No, ordered directly from Penguin

I emailed Penguin to verify and they confirmed you only get 26 cards.
I find it pretty shocking they wouldn't specify in the ad copy how many performances are included with a refill trick. |

Just performed this for a layperson. They ended up with a discrepancy piece. They were none the wiser. It totally flew past them (as I suspected.)

A lot of people are weirdly unfamiliar with playing cards these days. I had someone ruin the finale of a thought card effect recently when they claimed the red card they had been thinking of was a club.
I still wouldn't attempt this with anyone remotely familiar with cards, though. |
