Just for clarification, do you mean the history of silks that have a card printed on them like the Queen of Hearts silk shown here:
http://www.upstagemagic.com/wp-content/u......full.jpg or are you referring to effects like the "Chosen Card Through Handkerchief?" ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

The earliest reference I could find is in the June 1936 issue of _Linking Ring_ that says:
"We have received from Mr. L. Davenport & Company, 15 New Oxford Street, London, W.C., England, a sample of their new picture card silk which is a wonderful piece of printng. The one sent us is a King of Clubs, and it is a marvel of the printng art on silk. They have four designs. The size is about 18 x18." The "Who Invented That Magic Trick" website also credits Davenport as the inventor of the card silk: https://www.magictricks.com/who-invented-it.html ----- Amado "Sonny" Narvaez

Gee, my knowledge only goes back to Rice's Silk King Studios, offerings.
There is only one booklet devoted to tricks with the Card Silk. Think Magic Inc. published it, but can't find it on their website. |
