Is Vanishing including the book with all orders, and that's why there's a price difference, or will the book be a separate purchase? Does anyone know? I already have two decks (red and blue), and the PDF that I got with them definitely isn't a book - hard copy prints out to about 10 pages. |

There is a separate book, that's is over 100 pages. Not sure when that's being released, but the deck comes with a video download, which is why the price increased

Mine arrived yesterday and they are beautiful. I only have one negative and it's nothing to do with the deck. I just don't think my eyes are good enough to give the deck the justice it deserves.

I bought a red and a blue and they arrived yesterday. At first glance the marking system appears very complex but in reality is it organized very well and extremely well thought out. Certain actions such as idetifying a card that has been chosen and reinserted into the deck (even after complete and legit shuffling) are extremely easy to do even within the first 30 minutes or less of owning the deck. The most basic effect of cutting to any named card is also straight forward and easy however this is where te eyesight issue that was previously mentioned comes into play. I think some people may have issues "reading" the deck in low light conditions or simply becaue they are farsighted. In other words you do need to be able to clearly see small markings at close range in order for this to easily work for you.
The teaching is excellent. I truly commend the production of the online training videos. They are professionaly done with multiple angles and clear audio. There is no annoying sound track or visual effects trying too hard to be cool, rather it is clear and easy to follow training presented by the creator (Ondrej Psenicka). The producders chose to go with slightly dramatic lighting with very little fill lighting so the shadow side of the screen can get slightly dark but this is a super minor quible and should not get in the way. Hopefully future productions will fill the shadows a bit more to avoid even this slight issue. Reagrdless the training is amongst the best I have seen. The deck is high quality, the method must have taken forever to design and develop, I can't even imagine how much time actually. Overall it is well worth the money and is a really, really strong utility device that will allow you to perform things that will appear to be miraculous. |

Just got mine and they're gorgeous. I can't way to get the system down, and I'm particularly excited about the variety of effects that should be possible by combining it with a stack or partial stack (The obvious one that leaps to mind is an incredibly clean ACAAN, but I'm sure that's just scratching the surface) even though preserving the stack of course sacrifices some other unique advantages of the butterflies.
One thing though: Did anyone else notice that there appears to be at least one additional "undocumented" bit of information encoded on the cards? Rather oddly, the "bit" is encoded twice on each card, but in the opposite way. There is a very clear and specific pattern to how this extra "bit" is assigned to cards—play with them for five minutes and you'll see it—and I think I can see some ways it might be useful, but... I can't find anything in either the "secret of the butterflies" or the posted videos referencing it or what use to make of it. Anyone else spot this? Is it documented somewhere I missed? |

Just an aside: at first I thought I was seeing things but I was not! The solid black butterfly on the tuck case is more then it appears to be. Super cool "hidden" detail indicative of the care put into this project.

Oh, that is SUPER cool. Apparently there are several undocumented features! Now I'm torn between getting faster at the reading and hunting for others...

Nice review Kaan thoigh I do have one point I woudl slightly disagree with.
You mention several times that the quality of the cards is not as "good" as a standard Bicycle deck, I am not sure I agree with that. It is different then a Bicycle deck for sure, it feels different, it handles a little differently but "different" does not mean"worse". I agree that in some sort fo perfect world it woudl be best if this type of marking system could be used on a Bicycle deck but that it not possible for several reasons: First it has been stated that USPCC could not cut the cards accurately enough for this system to work, secondly USPCC does not allow marked systems to be used on Bicycles (from what I understand) and finally and most obviously the entire back design of this deck is created to make this system work, it simply woudl not work with a Bicycle design even if it were allowed and could be cut precicely enough. So if using a non Bicycle deck bothers someone then this woudl be a problem, but if you are OK with using a unique design and are only concerned about the actual quality of the cards I can assure you that they are very high quality. They are maybe thinner and smoother then Bicycles? It is card to quanitfy the differences but they do feel different then Bicycles, but they still feel great. I actually find them easier to handle then Bicycles and they broke in very well and quickly for me. I woudl say the quality os on par with USPCC and in some ways maybe higher. Sorry, thsi has turned into a much longer reply then I had intended. Bottom line is simply that the uality of these cards (while different then Bicycles) is still great. |

Sure, I guess this just comes down to personal preferences and opinions. To me the actual quality of the cards (the stock and the printing) is just as good or maybe even better then the quality of USPCC. It is different, they do feel different then Bicycles but in my opinion the quality is not "worse". We agree that the system is very, very good regardless of our perceptions of the actual card quality.

Huh. I'll admit I may have just been hypnotized by how pretty they are, but I also thought they handled as well as, if not nicer than, standard Bikes. Though, let's be honest, at $30/deck, I don't expect to "handle" these like I would a standard deck anyway, so I haven't exactly tested them robustly on that front either.
