Hello I am sure this question is asked a lot but what DVD would you recommend that covers a wide range of good effects for close up magic.I want to get a general idea of different routines and tricks rather that buying DVDs that specialize in a specific trick.Any suggestions?
thanks |

A few questions:
Standing or access to a table? Skill level? Cards/non cards? Visual/mental? 'Impromptu' or set up? Clothing requirements? Quickies or longer effects? What sort of stuff do you like? Etc.etc. - this may help with answer Perhaps visit RSVP Magic, BBM and the like and scroll through their demos. |

I'd also add the penguin lectures by Pop Haydn and Mark Eldson.
They not only get give variety of routines, but also discuss how to create your own.

Since this is under Party Strollers and Table Hopping, can I assume this is the type stuff you are looking for? If so, I have heard good things about "Live From The Jailhouse" DVD set. A diverse and well rounded group of working pros shoot a "how to video" in a restaurant called "The Jailhouse" (I believe) I have only seen clips of it but the guys involved in the project are awesome.

The 3 DVD set of Daryl's Fooler Dooler.
This is a great set a wide range of coin, card, rope, silk and every day stuff. Also most of the marital covered use no or little gaffs. The gaffs you need are easy to get hold of standard stuff. Also Daryl explains tricks created by the masters of magic so you get a idea of there work as well. I got a lot out of this when I got back into magic it a great thing.
Enjoy your magic,
and let others enjoy it as well! |

Just picked up "At the Jailhouse" from Kozmo at a lecture. This 2 DVD set would be perfect for why you're looking for. Not only filled with great tricks and routines but also discussions and insight from restaurant workers. Highly recommend!
