What's a good source for a 3" plastic ring for the Ring on Rope routine?

Thanks, Ted

Perhaps a teen bracelet. Also a part of a child's toy such as ring toss.

I came to Café to ask same thing. I’ve been looking for 5” ring. Found metal ones at craft store but are pretty thin and awkward to handle.

Been liking on Penguin and Amazon...nothing yet.

Any recommendations where to look?

Ended up googling “5 inch rings” and it came up with Ring Toss Rings on Amazon. 5 inches wide, red, and thick. Should work nicely

I forget where I got mine.It is a 1/4 pound soild brass ring.
I think it is 5 inchs in diameter. The weight works well.
I like the size too.Someone will chime in and lead you in the right direction.
I have had mine for several years now.I have tried the light weight alumininum ones.
And I personaly didn't like them.Amazon sells them in a set of 3 for 6 dollars.

I got mine at "Tractor Supply" 4" stainless, some type of tack. I have used a ring from a 4" linking ring set.

For a metal ring, try hardware store.

I have one might sell - less than 5" but the original 1/4 pounder.

Not sure what it is worth, and I have to find it Smile

Right now, most of my Ring on Rope is combined with Linking Hearts, so I don't need it.

Harness rings might do it for you. Try a saddle shop.

Here is a site for 3" solid brass ring. The extra weight allows you to throw the ring true for some of the most impressive tricks. There is also a very solid feel for the spectators when it is passed out for inspection. So few objects have that kind of gravitas that holding it makes a real impression of solidity. Never practice barefoot. LOL

I got one from this company when it was called Reef. It is very smooth and heavy (the photo shows a join but none is apparent in my ring). I cannot recommend it highly enough. I would include a note to seller that you need a very smooth ring (but I did not). The smaller 1" brass rings I got were smooth too.

Penguin has a set of 4" chrome linking rings now. Maybe useful as a dual purpose prop?

Seems like the initial questions got side-tracked..

I found some 5" plastic rings (the plastic is about 0.4" thick) in an arts & craft store. If I remember correctly, they were intended to be used for the handles of a purse (but before someone makes a wise crack, they were sold separately from the purse). I prefer these over the metal rings, since they are not too heavy - the weight of a metal harness type ring can pull too much for some of the moves I do, and the rings are black, which I think makes a nice contrast with the red rope that I use)

I don't know if they sell 3" handles.

As I noted on another thread, the rings that come with some dog pull toys work fine also. Hard rubber like with no seam and can be dropped with a natural story line with a "leash" used instead of a rope.

Just out of curiosity, what particular (“the”) Ring On Rope routine might you (meaning the OP) perhaps be referring to, specifically?

I have a couple of old thick metal antique brass or bronze rings (3” interior diameter) that I’ve been hanging onto for years, for no particular conscious reason... so I’m intrigued...?
