What is your favourite Sword Basket performance and who is the magician?
I personally enjoy Jeff McBride's choreograph with the dancers and how the dancers' costume aid in the act. I also enjoy Scott Alexander's comedy version of it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Oqd2FAOt......7B632D0D I own this version by Thom Rubino. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ion9m2Kp......7B632D0D Who's your favourite? =) |

I have always liked the natural basket, but after seeing your version, I have to admit it is the most deceptive design I have ever seen.
Personally, I don't care for girls dancing around on stage. To me it just does not fit penetrating a human being with swords. Magic presentation should be all about the effect. This of course shortens the time of the presentation, and means more illusions or routines being needed to fill the allotted time of a show. Scott's presentation absolutely proves the girl is still in the basket at different points during the routine. Everyone I have seen fails at inserting the swords. It is like the magician knows they are not penetrating a person. Just to casual during the insertion. This needs a little more thought for the acting. The trick is penetrating a person, not just pushing a sword in some holes. |
