Yep, I think I've found one.
Because of some of the trolls I don't post much here, but recently I purchased Card-Shark's "Get Sharky" deck (for purely personal enjoyment) and as I prepared for worship services today a wonderful bit of inspiration came to mind. For those not familiar with the effect (it is pricey for what many have called a one-trick pony) the standard effect is that a spectator riffles through a rubber banded deck until they find a card they fancy. The performer has one hand in his pocket the whole time, presenting as tribute to an historic "one armed magician." The rubber band is removed, the deck GIVEN to the spectator to find his card by spreading through the deck. It cannot be found, even upon a second look. The performer takes his hand out of his pocket with a single card, turning it over to reveal the missing thought of (not verbally named) card. My mind is now racing with some possibilities, the first of which relies on the standard "one armed magician", tying in to a "what was lost is now found" concept, be it salvation, or of blessing(s) or talents we have received but lose sight of through complacency or, as in the parable, lose through unuse. Obviously the more you personalize the routine to your own experience/situation (which is what I intend) the more effective I think it will be. I believe that, with proper scripting and routining this can be a magical yet quiet and serious piece of an evangelical closer. I look forward to working on this, and I hope some of you may find a kernel of inspiration to look at something like this, a small item that could have a big impact in your gospel performances. I did "Get Sharky" for the Ring 211 Hocus Pocus Party (close-up at dinner tables) several years ago. Just an amazing trick to do, probably the best card trick I have ever done. Pricey, but worth it if you do a lot of closeup. As for "Gospel" card tricks, I did Duane Laflin's "Agree With All Scripture" this past Sunday in kids Sunday School- just a cool card trick that a person like myself will never understand why/how it works.
