Every time I went, Paul Diamond (a notorious dealer from Florida) would be there doing demos and every time I would buy something, never to use it. There was the smoke from mouth gimick and lots of other stuff. Paul had the ability to make things more than magical - he made them seem like so much fun. To be honest, I never really spent a lot at a time, and I'd rather give him my money than spend it elsewhere. So I don't have any regrets. |

I've now changed my mind.
Maybe we give up too soon before consigning our tricks to the bottom drawer. I took a close look at Spreadwave again. I made notes from Bich's instructional film. Initially, the deck's structure was hard to grasp, but I gradually became familiar with it. The display moves were easier than I expected. You have to follow the procedures and turnovers accurately otherwise the final ribbon spread display is botched. By the end of the week I'd eliminated the errors and it was running smoothly. It's a great trick, after all! Now I'm going to sift thru my bottom drawer and attempt further resurrections of dead material. |

For me, "Quicksilver" and "The Haunted Pack." I saw both of them at Tannen's and bought them, then couldn't work myself around the method and never actually performed either trick.
Quicksilver just didn't look as magical and I felt the holding of the gimmick (trying not to give stuff away) made it too unwieldy. Haunted Pack just felt too labored for me. It didn't feel anything like I believed it would when I saw the presentation. Understand, I am not knocking these tricks. There are people who have made their reputations on these tricks. I will never be one of them.

Losander's Bubbles. It looks so easy, like playing with a child's toy. But its very difficult and now is a permanent resident of the junk drawer.

I bought a haunted pack, and later thought "why?". I'd always done fine with black string and a rubber band; but this pack promised multiple selections and used thick fishing line. The dealer did a nice demo...but then in the end, simple basics worked much better! Lynn
