From Norm Clarke's Gossip column in the Las Vegas Review-Journal:
<<DreamWorks studio honcho Jeffrey Katzenberg let the cat out of the bag the other day talking with reporters. Roy Horn will "show up for the premiere" of NBC's "Father of the Pride" cartoon series, Katzenberg, executive producer of the Siegfried & Roy animated sitcom, said on Thursday. "Roy is going to be one of the great miracles of our time," Katzenberg said. "He is up; he is talking; he is active. He's in an amazing recovery rehab. ... The show means more to him than ever. I am talking with him about every day." Katzenberg made the comment while addressing the audience of the NBC Program Development meeting on the set of the NBC show "Las Vegas." Early buzz about "Father of the Pride" was positive after the showing of advance clips.>> |

I think this is highly doubtful at this point.

In Today's Las Vegas Review Journal( Norm Clark's column) Norm said S&R's manager Bernie Yuman was asked if the reports of Roy taking steps on his own and actually waking around etc...were true. (The things in the above post were asked about) Basicaly Yuman said the reports are false. Roy is continuing to improve that is all that was said by Yuman.
Once again it just shows how little you can really trust the media. True this is coming from a media source as well but I think it is more then likely more sound information then has been put out by these other papers networks etc...... |

This, from Norm Clarke's Las Vegas column of April 29.
"NBC's Maria Shriver will land the first interview with Roy Horn since his near-fatal mauling, the network announced Thursday. "Shriver, the wife of California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, will host a 90-minute special in September shortly before the fall prime-time show "Father of the Pride," a computer-animated series featuring Siegfried & Roy's white lions. "Bernie Yuman, Siegfried & Roy's manager, said segments will be filmed starting next month, which means Horn is far enough along in his recovery that he's comfortable going on camera. "The special 'will trace Roy's recovery from his injuries and subsequent stroke, giving viewers an intimate look into his harrowing experience in his own words' and will include interviews with Horn's doctors and others close to the entertainer, the NBC release said. "Since returning from UCLA Medical Center to Las Vegas in December, Horn has been on a mission to make his recovery complete by being able to walk again. He is involved in rehabilitation six to eight hours a day." UPDATE: May 20, 2004 From E! Entertainment Network: Roy Horn Speaks! May 19, 2004 Illusionist ROY HORN, who was mauled by his 600-pound white tiger last October during he and SIEGFRIED FISCHBACHER's famed Las Vegas show, spoke publicly for the first time in nearly 8 months since the tragic accident. Tonight on ET, we bring you the latest on the persevering performer and the status of his white tiger. The Insider has learned that MONTECORE, a Bengal tiger, is still living at an animal preserve at the Mirage called The Secret Garden. The seven-year-old cat spends time with his mother and sister and is said to be doing well. It's been reported that Roy has indeed visited with some of his animals, but has yet to see Montecore. It was during NBC's fall lineup announcement on Monday in New York City that Siegfried and Roy, via satellite from their Las Vegas home, spoke to the amazed journalists. Roy was alert, articulate and even funny during the appearance, which was broadcast during Tuesday's "Today" show. The good-spirited Roy had some scars on his face from his numerous surgeries and his left hand was motionless, likely due to the stroke he suffered during the attack. The talented duo were there to introduce their upcoming animated fall show, "Father of the Pride," from the studio that brought the world the much-loved 'Shrek.' The series airs Tuesdays this fall and revolves around a pride of white lions that perform in the Siegfried & Roy show. The all-star cast includes JOHN GOODMAN ("Roseanne"), CHERYL HINES ("Curb Your Enthusiasm") and the legendary CARL REINER. Although the magical pair won't voice their characters, they are very much involved in the creation of the unique show. It has also been announced that the gifted Horn will be giving NBC's MARIA SHRIVER an exclusive 90-minute interview to also air this fall. The televised event will focus on Roy's recovery and give an inside look into his life-altering experience. |

Any idea if they are coming back to perform at the Mirage?

I don't think that will happen. Could he recover enough for them down the road to do a special appearance? Sure. He'd be in a limited role, however. Just the fact he could stand on stage it would sell out.
Let's continue to send our good thoughts to him for a speedy recovery!!!!!!!!!!!!

If S&R wanted to come back to that venue, they would have to start over from scratch.

Hello:
I sure hope they don't ever try to do a comeback. I don't see how Roy could recover enough from his stroke to be nearly the performer he was. Sigfried and Roy left while they were still at the top - I remember seeing Frank Sinatra in his latest years trying to do a show when he clearly should not have. He was really quite pathetic - he is probably my favorite performer of all time, and it was really sad to see him on stage, a shell of what he once was. I want to keep my memories of the Great Sigfried and Roy. I hope they don't make a mistake; I don't think they will. Ron |

From Norm Clarke's Las Vegas Review-Journal column, June 16 -
Siegfried Fischbacher, after his red-carpet appearance at the Golden Nugget on Monday, told me that his 65th birthday was "the most exciting of them all." Roy Horn not only gave Fischbacher a cherry red Hummer golf cart during a birthday bash Saturday at Little Bavaria, but Horn was at the wheel, having a blast. Fischbacher, whose birthday was Sunday, will use the golf cart to tour the plush 100-acre site inhabited by horses, donkeys, and dogs. ... |

Just wanted to tell you about two new Web sites: one regarding Roy and the other concerning Siegfried;
http://www.geocities.com/artsandmusic/GetWell.html and http://www.geocities.com/artsandmusic/Birthday.html I suspect that Roy is working hard on reclaiming his quality of life and whether he will return to the stage is questionable. If he doesn't, we will still salute his courage and remember SARMONTI for the singular act presented and for the spectacular men who brought magic to Vegas and made us all believe in the impossible.

Well, we knew the show was closed indefinitely and now comes word that Circ du Soliel will be moving a show into S & R 's old theatre. The show will be centered around the music of the Beatles.

I don't remember the show name, but there's a new billboard in Las Vegas from the Stardust Casino. "Siegfreid and Roy presents..."
Just like Darren Romeo, I think we'll see more and more S&R endorsements in the future as they transition from performers to promoters.
