Argon,

The effect is performed but not explained in his Penguin lecture 2.

Dani has not previously explained the effect anywhere.

Penguin order: Is this trick in pdf format or does it come as a video?

I bought this at Blackpool from Dani DaOrtiz lecture.
It was a printed sheet of folded A4 paper but no video download.
I also wanted to know if there was supposed to be a video tutorial link with the lecture notes from Blackpool, can anyone clarify this for me?
Thanks. Smile

I performed this for the first time to a group of about 10 people last night.

I know it's a great trick (that's why I bought it!), but the enthusiasm of the reaction surprised me.

I made two slight changes from the original routine that I would like to share:

1) Instead of naming the 3 cards, I take them out of the deck I've been holding (which a nice contrasting back) and place the 3 cards face-down on the table.

2) I used a marked deck for the spectator's deck. This way, when the face-up deck is spread and the 3 selections are face-down, I can see which order they are in. I then position the 6 cards, the 3 face-down selections, and the 3 face-down predictions so they are in matching pairs.

Screams a bit stacked deck... although it's weird it's not mentioned in the ad. It's such a big requirement to not mention.

I'm curious to this comment.

Why?

Some effects use a DL, and it does not say on the ad that it uses a DL.
It takes 15 minutes to learn a simple stacked deck, or 2 hours to learn a good one.
It takes 2-20 years to learn a good DL.

Why do people feel that the use of a marked deck has to be in the add and the use of a DL not? I'm just curious, no judgement.

I have a theory: a marked deck is still considered 'cheating' by some. Like an i..... st....
I'm not sure why. a DL is cheating as well.

I bought this effect and I agree with many others:
- Well worth the money even if you know the method already.
- I already did a version of if and did not recognize it from the performance.
- The lessons are great.
- It's not expensive

I recommend it.

So you could learn the Aronson stack in two hours?

I said (or at least meant to say) ONE can learn A stacked in 2 hours (as in: there are stacks out there that one can learn in 2 hours).
I did not say I can memorize ANY deck order in two hours.

:-)

TazBo,

No. The video version is only available from Penguin. The lecture notes version is only available at Dani's lecture.

I got this today and it's brilliant.
First project I bought from dani da Ortiz and really impressed.
I think I will soon try something else from him.

His Penguin lectures 1 & 2 are a great introduction to his work:

DD discusses performing this sitting down. Anyone have experience with that? Do you find it difficult for participants to move cards from the top (or the bottom!) *in the right way* when they are holding the deck under the table? Thanks.

Ijust bought the download from Penguin today. It'sthe best $10.00 investment you will make all year. Dani is great, method is clearly explained. Don't pass this one up.

Very easy to do, but not impromptu at all (and setup takes definitely some time).

Audience management is the most tricky part with this one, since a spectator can literally ruin your trick by not doing exactly what you asked him. In that sense, the second deck used by Dani is clearly a good way to ensure your instructions are correctly processed. But even with this 2nd deck, there is still a risk, imho.

However I just tried it with my wife, using 1 deck only, and it worked perfectly ! Also reset in 1 second.

A very good trick, my deck is already ready do it one more time very soon Smile

You could also do this by naming three random cards. Then let them pick the 3. If they don't pick the right ones, say you chose the wrong ones, you need a spiritual tune up.
Say I sell spiritual/psychic tuneup packages starting from _____. See the reaction you get hehe. I hope is it not a sin to joke once in a while.
