From the ad copy:
Flatpack takes one of the most powerful effects in magic and squeezes it inside your wallet. It's a credit-card sized effect with a huge impact. Tossed Out Deck: You produce a small card with every playing card printed on it and ask several people to glance at one. Then in a rapid-fire manner you name all of their thought of cards. 52 Suspects: You ask one person to mentally select a card and quickly divine the one they're thinking of through a series of Sherlock Holmes-style deductions. Bonus: Flatpack also includes a poster-sized version of the effect for use in stage performances. Flatpack is a powerful, simple to perform effect you'll always want to have with you. Comes with Flatpack credit card-sized version, 11 x 17 stage version, instructions and DVD. ------------------------ Does anyone have a review on this? There are some people on facebook that got it and say they like it, but no review. It looks good but would like to know a little bit more about it before taking the plunge.

Yea, I got my flat pack. Great trick. Just like you see it. Cards are nice, the big foldout stage piece is nice. If you want to carry around one card instead of a deck then this is for you. I laminated one of my cards. You receive two.
Everything about it I like. Good value. |

Nice use of an older methodology. You've seen versions by Harry Anderson (Miss-Mash Card) and Dick Barry (52-on-one Card) and a couple of others in my collection. However Andrew Mayne has taken the idea, put a different twist on it and made it uber portable. He as created a pocket trick that may be played in a stand-up venue (parlor, club, platform, etc.) and even on stage. It does exactly what is advertised. You can perform a "tossed out deck" type of routine or a more focused, one-on-one mentalism routine.
What you get: The props include two small (2" x 3.5") cards (non-glossy card stock) printed in color and a larger (11" x 17"), paper sheet printed in one color (black) and for good reason (explained). All props are printed on both sides and are identical. The larger sheet is identical in layout to the small cards. All props can take a casual inspection The small cards are a bit narrower and a bit longer than a standard credit card. Still they fit in the credit card slots in your wallet. If you laminate them and add a margin around the cards then they might fit tightly or not at all. You also get an instructional DVD and a single sheet of printed instructions (printed both sides). It folds up and can easily be carried in a jacket pocket (or pants pocket or in your case). It is visible enough for a fairly good size venue. It is perfect for a small venue. My thoughts: This is an unassuming set of props that do exactly what they were designed to do. The DVD and instruction sheet give you good and complete instruction to be able to use the props and perform the effect(s) without a problem. The learning curve is quick. You'll understand and be able to do it within a few minutes of watching the DVD and/or reading the instructions. If you have good performance skills and good audience management skills then this could become a real personality piece for you. If you perform the tossed out deck routine then note that you need to perform it for a good size group/audience. I'd say that you need at least 10 spectators to really exploit the tossed out deck bit. The mind reading routine can be done on-on-one and be effective. I'd still try to have another person or two standing around to watch and react. It is one of those things that, given good performance skills, can play big yet fit in your pocket. Bottom line. Nice idea well executed. If either of the two routines fit your style and effect selection then you will be satisfied and pleased with this. I think the table hopper and walk around performer can drop Mind reading routine into their repertory immediately The basic prop can be used for a routine where the selected card is found in an envelope or a wallet, or folded up in a box, etc. I believe the price fair. I carry it and use it.

Very similar to Dick Barry's 52 on 1, Tony Millers Pocket Space Plus and Jon Allens Silent Treatment.
All of these routines have something extra to their routines that make them stand apart. |
