Hey guys,
Here is an other spellish thing of mine.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGHLMdOfhXI ( the coin roll change feels rusty: I'm very busy with a new job and had almost no time to practice for 8 months..need to put that back into shape!..) Hope you enjoy! b |

I like it, but I had a hard time seeing some of the color changes. I think you either need different lighting, or two coins that contrast more. I feel like I missed out on part of the beauty of the routine.
For the coin roll, try moving your thumb down to the pinky earlier. I feel like part of the stutter was as you remembered you needed grab the coin with the thumb and so had to do so then. Hope the new job's going well. |

Ahh, yes, it was. That also had a little bit of a stutter at the end, but I now understand why - I'd missed the color change at the same time, so it makes sense.
Something to think about, at least, if you could get the timing tighter. |

While I understand that this video is practice and not a true depiction of the routine you would perform, I think Spellbound routines where the coin changes this often, this quickly, to be too much a display of manipulation to be magical. Instead of showcasing the changes, it's a game of following the coin(s) and watching the magician play with the coin(s). For practice to be most effective, it should be done at the same tempo and with the entire presentation of an act for a living, breathing audience. If this is how you would perform it, I would suggest slowing the pace and adding in some pauses, to let the magical moments live and to let the audience catch up a bit.

^^^ Agree. There are some absolutely beautiful changes there. I'd love to see them given a chance to breath.

100% guys. Such a routine should never be performed as "magic". This would be coin freestyle, or coin cool juggling, still cool to watch but different meaning. Spellbound routines, performed as a magic purpose should be slower and with fewer changes, 2 or 3 max in my opinion. I also recommend to experiment more transformations. One of the strongest reaction I was getting in term of spellbound performed as magic while performing professionally was a production to coin A } clean change to coin B} clean change to coin C} change to diamond} vanish...(Would it still be a spellbound routine though?..)
Anyway, thanks for feedbacks, have a great week. b |
