Hi gang,
I'd love to invite you to take a look over at Penguin and take a gander at my Penguin Lecture. No video promo at the moment, but it'll be coming shortly! This is material that I everyday, along with some of my other friends who have found it worthy of putting in their own repertoires. If you entertain for real people, I'm sure if you will find this highly valuable! http://www.penguinmagic.com/p/7993 Visual Card to Pocket- A selected card placed inside the pocket VISUALY makes its reappearance on top of the deck. You audience sees the magic happening! A quick and highly visual effect that has your audience asking for more! What’s Yours is Mine- A sandwich trick with a very unexpected ending. The use of word-play keeps your audience engaged and laughing UNTIL you clobber them with the unexpected. Unlike most sandwich effects, this can play bigger than others of its ilk. Pocket Pool- A very practical and visually stunning production of an eight ball. A playing card with an eight-ball decal visually leaves the card, at the same time becoming a real ball! The card (minus the eight-ball) has mysteriously turned into a previous selection. Big woo woo! Little Kreskin- Two cards are selected and lost in the deck. The spectator draws a stick-man picture of their own on the back of a business card. Not only does their stick-man find their cards, but a mysterious message appears that predicted their selections. Your’s Truly- Ed’s take on the Chicago Opener/Red Hot Mama. A very funny presentation with a transpo aspect not found in most. This is the routine Ed uses to quickly establish his character while evoking a major league reaction from his audience. Psychic Fail- A super easy to do effect that produces an inverse reaction to the amount of work involved. This is how David Acer described it: “A quick easy card trick with built in laughs and a surprising revelation of a chosen card. It’s a walkaround alternative to the McCombical Prediction and a worker plain and simple.” The Contest (Poker Player’s Pick-up)- This little trick has created more buzz among top-flight working magicians. To call it “Spectators cut to the aces” would be a misnomer. This has the potential of creating an event at your next gathering. John Bannon said “Best. Party. Trick. Ever. Hands down, they’ve crafted the finest handling of the classic Poker Players Picnic I’ve seen”. Oh, it’s self working, too! “I have personally seen the impact of Ed Oschmann’s card routines at various corporate events over many years. His Visual Transpo to Pocket is one of my favorite effects to perform when I need something quick and powerful! With the variety of his material, I am sure you will find something you will use as well.” - Karl Hein “If Ed teaches nothing more than The Contest, you’ll receive more value than you find in most 2 hour lectures.” - Michael Weber “Now that you’ve an opportunity to learn from Ed Oschmann, don’t pass it up! Full time pros don’t lecture all that often because they’re busy working to pay the bills, and Ed is no exception. Ed’s private, corporate, and restaurant clients keep him busy and there’s a reason for it - he knows how to entertain, and his material is devastating. You’re gonna love it!" - Jack Carpenter "Ed’s lecture is filled with practical magic that is fun to perform, is not technically demanding and that’s very high on the “magical strength meter”. Don’t miss it!"- Mike Powers "Of course you can count on Ed's magic to reliably entertain regular folk, but it also intrigues magicians. His knack for presentational twists and handling tweaks produces strong commercial magic that's also fun to do. Just chatting with him, I got two ideas that I now use in my professional work. I can't wait to see what's going to be in this lecture." - Curtis Kam |

This will be a great lecture you guys! Don't miss it. My endorsement above isn't because Ed is my pal. It's because I know his work and I have seen him work. You won't go wrong with this lecture.

I don't know Ed personally. But luckily I was privy to some of his card work. Last thing I saw, was a superlative version of the Devilish Miracle. So, what you can expect is well constructed, practical card magic, designed to please and astonish lay audiences. Real world stuff that works.

Boy, am I glad I've waited on this.
I was going to buy this simply for The Contest because of Michael Weber's testimonial & because I like casino tricks. I just looked on the Penguin site & it was listed Sunday but today it's not listed as part of the lecture. I guess the lesson I've learned is to wait until the last minute to buy one of the Penguin lectures. |

It seems that it has already been taught on Tom Dobrowolski's lecture.

So I finish my lecture and head back to the hotel. I'm drifting off into slumberland reflecting on the evening. I suddenly wake up with the worst case of Tourette's that you would ever want to hear. I forgot to teach "The Contest"! Two years ago I posted this trick on Lance Pierces website where Tom Dobrowolski was quite taken with it. He asked if he could put it in his lecture notes which I immediately said yes. So, it turns out that Michael Weber learned this trick and is quite taken with it. I hear through the grapevine that he is showing ( not teaching) it around Blackpool. My head swells up like a balloon! He gives me a wonderful quote for me to use at my penguin lecture .
So here is the short of it. Right now I am trying to digitize a performance that I had from my DVD. I will send it to them tomorrow and pray to God that it will be appended on my lecture. But, if for some reason it does not make it on there you will find the material to be very practical funny and amazing! |

Ed,
Thanks for the explanation. If it ends up being added, please let us know. |

Ed,
I see that it states that it has been added as a special feaure. That's great! I'm still on the fence about buying the lecture as I'm not I great card sleight magi. And now that I seem to always have dry hands, some sleights frustrate me even more so. But the plot descriptions seem very engaging. |

Thanks for going the extra mile to make sure it was included Ed! I'd already pre-ordered the lecture but that's the icing on the cake. Greatly looking forward to seeing it

First of all, thank you for your understanding guys. Also, thank you for alerting me that it is now back on the site. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that Jeff Prace is using it. I did not know that! For the most part, none of the material is terribly sleight intensive. There are a couple of routines which require intermediate to advanced sleights, but very few and far between.
The trick Poker Players Pick-up a.k.a. The Contest is for all practical purposes sleight free! What I love about this trick is that it becomes an event rather than just a card trick. I also address the subject of dry hands. I have them, and I have them bad! Also, there is a napkin vanish on there that is not advertised that you will use. It is absolutely wonderful! |

The one trick called "Little Kreskinl" might be the sleeper of the entire lecture. It is nothing more than a card force and the use of the out to lunch principle. The reactions garnered from this way exceed the effort required to perform it. I performed this last July for every one of my shows during my week in the close-up room at the Magic Castle. The reactions were loud and priceless!

I liked this lecture, Ed taught some really nice stuff. There are probably 3 or 4 items that I thought were worth the price, well done!
On another note, I thought that I read earlier in the promo on Penguin that he was going to discuss dry hands, which would really pertain to me personally. Maybe I misread, or missed it, but I didn't see it in the lecture. Robert |

Hey Robert!! I am glad that you liked the lecture. Yes, I discussed it during the trick Visual Card to Pocket. I imagine some people might gloss over that one because of the one hand top palm, but that's where I discuss how I require a crutch

Thanks Ed! Yes, I possibly wasn't paying too much attention to the details on the one handed top palm as it is a move I'm already comfortable with. It strikes me funny that I have used it in a somewhat similar way at times, not exactly, but as I was turning the deck in kind of a midnight shift sort of action -- if that makes sense. I'll be sure to go back and pay more attention to that section. Also, I may have to see if I can find some of those stickers. Any ideas, nudge nudge??? Seriously, let me know if you're selling them.
Great lecture with a lot of commercial, and workable material! Robert |
