I thought that this was a slick idea. I like the fact that you can see the glass surface empty at the point where the card teleports, this is a great visual moment.
Very well thought out from Cody! I have been following this card through window plot for years and am still looking for the holy (close-up version) grail of it. Knowing that there is another version coming soon and going farther than this one makes me feel excited because this one is already quite good and innovative I think. This is why I will always love magic, the art is on an endless quest for perfection and refinement, tricks get gradually improved by the addition of new subtleties and sometimes go a totally different way to perform the effect, following a path that nobody would have been able to predict. And although we think that we know everything, we still managed to get regularly (sometimes?) amazed. I hope that this feeling of getting tricked again and again will never dry up for me. How can you possibly get bored with magic? |

I've watched the video numerous times. I'm definitely interested in both the current Penguin release and Cody's upcoming release, but I have questions:
1. The video and description do not mention any gimmicks. Does the purchase just include a DVD/download? If so, do I have to buy and make my own gimmicks, or can this be done with just a deck of cards? 2. How long would the average setup time be? Is this something I can setup in seconds/minutes? 3. How clean are you afterwards? How much is examinable? |

[sarcasm]I read that you have to install "fake glass" in every possible location in order for it to work. [/sarcasm]
Cody - I look forward to your new release, and thanks for the honesty here! Much appreciated! |

Hustler2014 - I think you are correct about how the current version on Penguin works. This was released years ago under a different name, which I don't remember. It's not a bad version, and has an easy setup, but I'll definitely wait for Cody's new release. Thanks, Cody.

Really looking forward to the new release - particularly if it is practical in real world situtations

I follow this plot a lot as well and am always interested in anything new in this area. http://www.lybrary.com/windowx-p-728049.html Cody is a great guy and a cool creator. I can't wait to see his other release on Monday. And I am gonna' pick up both of them to see which is my favourite. I have a good idea for the method to the one that just got released but it is such a great idea I want to pick up the DVD to see what other subtleties there are. It is a simple idea, but smart and practical. Looking forward to Monday! |

I bought something almost exactly like this, meaning the method. I bought it from Hank Lees and the name was something like "meeting point" or "the point"? The creator I think was from Spain.....

I've gotten quite a few messages from people who have "x" amount of money to spend on an effect and want to buy either Unbroken or the new effect. Again, which launches Monday at Murphy's.
Things have cooled off since yesterday. It wasn't fun, it was a lot of talking on the phone, a lot of trying to get understanding through as to why I was upset about the timing, lack of communication, and so on. So I'm going to list the differences here. I'd suggest waiting till you see the other trailer (obviously), or if you are wanting to buy both.....go for it. I'm going to be as honest as I can with the hopes that honesty doesn't flare up more phone calls. Unroken: You are looking at an effect that needs to be set up ahead of time. Under a minute setup depending on where you are, but for the most part, under a minute. It'll stay setup for 10 minutes, 2 days, a week, whatever. You DO control the timing of when the card passes through. In the video, it may have seemed like I had an issue getting the card to pass through the window when performing for the girl and two guys and that's because I did. It was my mess up, but it wasn't that noticable that penguin wouldn't include it in the live performances. Are you going to perform this on the street? You could, but personally, this is gig and tv material. If I were on a stage or in a room doing walk around where I had access to setup, this is where that would be done. The gimmick that you are going to receive wasn't produced yet until long after I filmed it so it's going to be more streamlined and I'm sure much better than what I used. I haven't seen the gimmick or exactly how it's constructed. The new effect: I'm still not sure what I can say so I'll give it a general overview. You're going to get a gimmick that I developed over the past 2 years. Prototypes we're sent to me multiple times until it was perfected to when I said that it was done. Would I perform it on the street? Yes. Once the gimmick is prepared, that's it. Wherever you go, it's ready. It is TV, gig, and street material. Another difference is that in this version, instead of watching the card go through the window on the same side of the glass as the spectator, you are on the other side. It's also hands off. One the card had been selected, they push the card in the shuffle, and from there you don't touch the cards again. Being on the other side of the window may seem like it's more possible than impossible, but that's where what I can say comes to a halt. This is the kicker. Wait till Monday, check out the new trailer and pick which one you think you'd prefer. Either way, as long as most of the buyers are happy, I'm happy. I say most because they say you can't please everyone. |

What's the name of the new effect.
"The New York Papers," Mark Twain once said,"have long known that no large question is ever really settled until I have been consulted; it is the way they feel about it, and they show it by always sending to me when they get uneasy. "

I never sent you a message cody, but I myself am one of those people with 'x' amount of money to spend on magic, so I can really appreciate your honestly with all of this.
Since I get paid biweekly, it can be really frustrating to spend your hard earned money on something only to find out that it's not what you thought when you finally receive it or you wish you would've bought something else instead. Then I end up having to wait another two weeks and hope I don't make the same mistake again. Not to say this would've been the case with Unbroken, but in many other cases, a little feedback from the creator would've avoided these kinds of situations. After this happens so many times, buyers start to become very wary of certain creators/companies and in the end it only tarnishes their image and creates a sense of distrust (i won't name drop here, but I'm sure we all know of one or two names that come to mind). Anyways, it's not too often that we get honestly like this from creators. Thanks cody, I'm sure I can speak for everyone in saying we all really appreciate it. Can't wait for your new release btw, sounds awesome! |

Probably piling on here but agreed - the mishap with unbroken, despite the frustrating day, is probably the best organic marketing for rift you could have asked for, thanks to your response!

No problem guys. When you have responsibilities that a $30 trick can put gas in the tank, food on the table, or pay the gas bill. So dropping $30 twice on two tricks with a similar concept is kind of a "do I really want to do this." Again, I'm not saying pick one over the other, or to let these compete with each other, but to watch the trailers and see which one will fit you better. Do you want to be on the other side of the glass, do want to be on the same side, do you want it to fall through under the cover of the fan, or do you want it to come through in an impossible way with absolutely no sign of anything fishy going on.
Check out the trailer tomorrow. Compare, see which fits you. Again, I'm on facebook, instagram, youtube. Message me with any questions about either and I'll be happy to answer. My Grandpa has ran a successful business for 40 years now. He said there is 2 secrets to running a business and keeping people happy: be honest and polite, don't talk bad about competition. |
