The Description:
Divination Systems: How to Choose the Right Oracle for You This book looks at eleven of the most popular forms of divination, and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each one. Four chapters show you how to create an original system of your own to set you apart from other readers in your area. The final section includes The Ultimate System for Answering Questions, an approach used by one of the world’s leading psychics. This system has been lost on at least two occasions, and is finally in print for the first time. 64 pages. US$35.00 This is the latest work by Richard Webster for mystery entertainers. This book gives an overview of the common, and a few less common, reading systems, it provides descriptions, as well as advantages and disadvantages. Richard then discusses the value and process of creating your own systems, and then how to combine them with existing systems. This is a very enlightening section, in addition to the wonderful information on base systems and applying additional elements, familiar names are mentioned along with some of their contributions to reading systems. Richard provides a new Shakespearian reading system, one that is fun and I can see being fun. More systems are then described. After the book conclusion and bibliography, don’t stop reading… At the very end comes a chapter on answering questions, this is extremely valuable to anyone answering questions be it in a Q&A act, readings, counseling, or in general life. The book can be found at: http://www.deceptionary.com/webster.html#divination This book reminds me of my favorite book on religion, Scotty McLennan’s FINDING YOUR RELIGION, it is all about finding your own path and what fits you. This, like all of Richard’s work, is highly recommended. Tony Iacoviello |

An earlier version of this was privately published for the PEA in 2012, but the current book for the broader reading community was just released.

The chapter at the very end, on answering questions, provides one of the most insightful systems I've ever learned for how to actually answer questions. Brilliant.

Mine finally arrived (faster than expected).
This book will give you a lot to ponder on several systems (be it popular or not so known) and give you a lot of tools to build your own systems, with essays to all that. This is the kind of book that brings you to a journey, the kind that will have you coming back to it many times. The final chapter on the ultimate system for answering questions is precisely that, a system! As every system, it's not a plug and go, you need to have it down (but it's a piece of cake!). You certainly will be very well rewarded, as it can be used in pretty much anything... from private readings to Q&A acts. I must also take my hats off to Richard. His service is top notch. This book is a must have for private readers, psychic mentalists and anyone using mental systems in their acts (for those who know what I'm talking about). Highly recommended indeed!

I've also enjoyed the book. Although it contains a contradiction- At one point he says a new unique system will make you stand out from other readers, and in another statement he says that people may shy away
from something that they're not familiar with and choose someone who uses a more traditional system. Speaking of new systems, and what can be done with modern technology: https://www.etsy.com/listing/498144361/q......98144361 Woodfield |

Woodfield, from what I gathered, he highlighted both aspects of the situation.
And thanks for the link, quite interesting!

First let me start by saying I'm a big fan of Mr. Webster's work. Second I can't lay claim to owning this work but I'm sure it's amazing as all of Mr. Webster's creation imo should be must reading to the brotherhood.
Now having said all that and not to be negative but I don't see befit to one creating there own divination system Why? Because the lay would be unfamiliar with it and imo not trust it. Established oracles like astrology, numerology, the tarot and others While still mysterious and misunderstood by much of the lay are still accepted as "genuine" to our sitters and/or spectators. I would think that when developing ones own system, an exploitation of said system, would be required so as to justify it's inclusion in the act. At the very least the performer would have to explain how he developed or found or whatever his justification was for using this limited, to his comprehension. Perhaps this is all covered in Mr. Webster's book and if so, forgive my ignorance but if not? I would be remiss, to not mention it. Having read the praise of the Q&A I believe that alone, would be well worth the price of the tome. So take my uneducated criticism for what its worth and just think about how you justify, in all you do magically or in the mind. When performances make sense and connect to the audience on a visceral level, true astonishment is created. Or maybe not? What do I know?
A wise man can learn more from a foolish question than a foolish man can learn from a wise answer.
Attributing negativity to a topic or post doesn't make the topic or post negative, it shines a light on the negativity of the person or persons, making the attributions. BEWARE these Debbie downers and anything they say. They simply lack the self esteem or good will, to be positive or productive. Your belief in self, is more important and is all that matters, for your success to be glorious. |

In additional of Max comment, He covered Hows and Whys by telling the story of his real world experience, real situation. Not just "Do XYZ then you will get ABC". From my beginner perspective, his reading examples included in this book are very useful. You will read how he applied his technique to many things around.

I feel like this deserves a better review, but I would just like to comment quickly about how amazing this book is.
If you are a beginner then this is a great starting point. All of Richard Webster's work is amazing and very accessible, you get a beautiful introduction to several systems of divination and soem great thoughts about doing your own thing. If you are an experienced reader and Richard-Websterphile then you probably have seen the above before, although there'll definitely be a few nuggets that will get thinking along new lines, BUT YOU STILL NEED THIS... BECAUSE... ...of the bonus section! It's thrown in the back, after the bibliography and everything not even in the TOC! Since it is not talked about super-much I won't go into too much detail, but this is the one page method of answering questions discussed by Charles Gardner in his book (for real! That one!). It has info that I have heard people mention in passing, in bits and pieces, but not coherently all at once. It's unusual to see something that I REALLY haven't seen before, ...but here I did. Anyone with experience in the area knows that "Richard Webster" = must buy But for anyone getting started, or who is experienced and thinks they can skip this introductory item, trust me.. ...you want this one!

So, in this special extra chapter Richard mentions our correspondence regarding this..'list'. I went through my email from a couple of years back and I see that the first time I wrote him about it was actually after a mention by Docc Hilford in the QuestA cards Doccinar about it. This is it. Incredibly valuable stuff I've used in every reading since laying my eyes on it.

You should create your own system and oracle. It is good to be the king as Brad Henderson quote Mel Brooks in his book "The Dance".

May someone please elaborate a bit more on the Q&A bonus? What is meant by "system"? Will a specific query automatically lead you to the answer by following the system? What is meant by " answer"? Also is this the "ultimate system" referred to in the following post:
https://www.themagiccafe.com/forums/view......c=352633 It's been said many times that the audience doesn't really care how the questions are obtained, they just want an answer to their questions. I completely agree with this statement, but I also strongly agree with Finley's statement, quote: "Giving an answer (as it were) is actually a dis-service as it implies the end of possibilities." Does this system provide answers to questions where possibilities are eliminated or are they more generalized answers where the questioner is encouraged in providing their own answers? Hope my question is clear enough. Thanks in advance! |

Yes, the "ultimate system" disclosed in this book is the same one referred to in the aforementioned topic (the ""one of Mentalism's BIG NAMES" is, in fact, Richard). Note again, that Richard did not create this system, it comes from someone else, a professional psychic now deceased, who is not revealed.
The system does not spell out anything like specific answers to questions (that will always be the job of the entertainer), but it does give great insight into how to determine the type of answer that the querent is actually seeking. And once you have that, constructing an answer is much easier.
