Any published coin across routines that BOTH turtle ([) and butterfly (F**pp**)are used in the routine? Something like Eric Jones Impossible Coin Across, but turtle was hided in mose of the time and only used in last phrase of his routine ....
I want to do a coin across routine that combine these two "creatures" and looking for more ideas... |

What is the end result you are striving for as far as the observer is concerned? Somewhat confused as to "why"

There is a reason why the turtle is hidden in Jones routine. it would make be at risk in the other phases of the routine.
so if you introduce a turtle earlier, you are very limited in doing things in specators hands except something like what Jones used it for in the final phase. so choose your weapons wisely |

Folks doing billiards have explored similar a generation before the coin gaffs got popular. If you go backwards and get the double deception set from Robert Swadling you can have one more tricky feature to help your routines. And some props, and nice routines to get you started.

Just wanna see what they together can do in one of my favorite effect - coin across. Another minor reason , because I want the observer experience different vanishing mechanism: 1) simply by closing their hand (Imagination Coin Across (Garret) 2 )simply by dropping the coins visibly ("Four Coins Your Hands" (Dan Watkins) and aforementioned Impossible Coin Across by Eric Jones.) I have to agree with funsway, here. What effect are you trying to achieve for the spectator? Both a turtle and a butterfly (I prefer dolphins, myself) have the result of you being able to get one ahead. Sure, having two lets you get farther ahead, but it's also more to manage/hide, and if it appears the same to the spectator, it's worth asking if that's worth it to you.
Having multiple kinds of vanishes/changes is a very valid reason (as you mention, for Eric Jones' routine), but there *are* only three/four teleportations in the trick - so it's not like you can do more than one or two with each. I thought Eric's used both very effectively, but if that's not sufficient for you, why not study various coins across that use a turtle and a butterfly separately, and then combine them yourself, picking out the pieces you like the best? I'd also look at coins through table routines - which are basically the same as a coins across, just with an table between your hands. To me, the benefit of using both comes from the nesting, and the ability to be farther ahead, which works particularly well in a multi-coin production/vanish, such as Eric Jones' Oxy-Clean Coin Routine. I also think he might have a version where he does a 3Fly between the productions and vanishes. If you haven't seen it already, I think it was on Metal 3, though it's been a while. I hope that helps. |

Justin Miller had a interesting use of both gaffs for doing a coins across on the table in the style of invisible palm aces.

Thanks for mentioning Eric Jones and Justin Miller. They've got work using the gaffs.
The Open Travellers effect using coins has been with us since CoinMagic if you're looking for older sources.

You will likely want to shim your turtle and then make it into a slider.
For now you may wish to look at Hoffmann's More Magic...where it all started. Then consider what Robert Swadling and Steve Dusheck have added.
