Here is some information on making a relatively inexpensive playing card trimmer. How effective it is I cannot attest to but it appears to have merit.
http://jamesriser.com/Magic/CardTrimmers......ser.html Also, here is a deck of negative strippers hand made by Dai Vernon – strictly for someone with very deep pockets. https://new.liveauctioneers.com/item/795......i-vernon |

Anyway I've seen spacial devices and optics designed with the cleverest (and/or weirdest!) of the ideas, and I thought that some creativity wouldn't hurt at all, expecially when it joins experience from different fields. Negative Stripper Deck handmade by Dai Vernon.
Sold For: $2,400 The guy does the deck switch and everyone freaks out! "Wow! Is it a handmade stripper deck by professor himself?!" I guess the "rare gambling collection" thing is only for people who have too much excess wealth. Never understood the principle of "collecting" something old. Bdw. Can someone help the bedroom magician understand one thing? That is - why there are so many regular card trimmers (I mean the ones who trim the whole side) instead of N? |

I will if you tell us what you are doing with that bush trimmer in your pocket.

It's called "history", and without those individuals and institutions who take it upon themselves to "collect something old", contemporary understanding of "history" in its millions of forms would rapidly vanish. "in its millions of forms would rapidly vanish"
Well it IS vanishing, because history is selective. "folks can better understand their place in the world" Viewing old and rotten teapot will help me understand my place in the world? History is useless knowledge primary because it is rewritten 100 times and is something that one SELECTS in order to rise patriotism or because it is "fascinating". History stands close to Fairy Telling. I did not mean to offend people by my lack of understanding the reason for old item collection. And I do not even care if people do, but when they try to justify it as something smart and knowledgeable, they usually will construct they arguments purely on bs. |

The world today is so superficial it’s embarrassing in more ways than one.

Just one quick thing. I think in order to keep this work secret we should no longer refer to it as "Negative Strippers" when we are in the company of people who are not hip to this type of work. We need a slang term that we will all understand means "Negative Stripper" but won't send people down the right path so we can still talk about the work openly without tipping our hands.
I propose we begin using the following terminology. "Sad Burlesque." Example: "Dude, did you see Cag doing that crazy trick last night? He totally snowed Artie. How did he do that?" "Pfft... Cag is just doing Sad Burlesque." I know this adds nothing to the conversation, and sorry to drag Cag and Artie in this but you two seem cool.
This is the profile of Comedian + Magician Erik Tait. A self-promoting sleight of hand artist who thinks he is the cat's meow.

Bizarre is an understatement when now describing The Gambling Spot, although I must admit, these are catchy terms and certainly would mislead anyone "not in the know." You guys are forcing me to go back on my meds - big time. Just a quick trip back to reality, if that is acceptable. Old time hustlers used to call this type work, "cutters," but what did they know about obscure and devious terminology. As an aside, while I "snowed" Artie with my use of the "Sad Burlesque" technique, he repeatedly fooled me with the standard Zarrow Shuffle. |

Is it through a perverse need to create a mystery, an "opiate for the masses," as the materialists say? Is it because the world of these days is so uncultured in comparison with theirs, which was so highly intelligent? Would it be because those Old time hustlers and God-inspired men did better know how to express themselves?

Never mind my spasm of unreasonable scrutiny and aggression. I just want to know:
Are N Sad Burlesque Bush trimm thing superior to the short cards? If the answer is yes, why so many short card trimmers and self made short card trimmers even on this forum? If not, then why? |

It is all about the application as Steve Forte says; better for what exactly and in what circumstances?

Well, I don't know, there is a world difference between a game of Gin in the old barn with a fish and a poker game in a Casino with fast company, with eyes in the sky, etcetera. It depends also on whether you can use the gaff or move in question and how well as so on. Look at all things and think for yourself, what fits the bill best for you, your game and your circumstances.
