Here is some information on making a relatively inexpensive playing card trimmer. How effective it is I cannot attest to but it appears to have merit.

@Artie: thanks, I know about sanding but I feel like the cards are more "stressed" (even with protection cards during the sand) with sanding, while cutting is far more neat and precise.

Anyway I've seen spacial devices and optics designed with the cleverest (and/or weirdest!) of the ideas, and I thought that some creativity wouldn't hurt at all, expecially when it joins experience from different fields.
Maybe I'm just a dreamer, but dreaming is free!
