As a casual magi I'm always looking for more easy/SW, non-card, fits in your pocket, can be examined, in the hands, standing up, short and direct, super-strong tricks.

At the moment, I've got:
Turbostick (not SWing, but pretty easy and examinable)
Spongeballs (again, not SWing, but fairly easy and examinable)
Haunted Doll

What am I missing? Smile

Oh, lol. One of those. Isn't it more a puzzle than a trick? And does it honestly count as 'strong' magic? I last saw one of those come out of a Xmas cracker. Smile. But it can't hurt to try if you're not just having me on ...

Not sure what you're asking for... you started with self-working "pocket" tricks, but then give 2 effects requiring sleight of hand (albeit not overly difficult) and a "puzzle." That said, here are a couple of options

Self Working
Pocket Money / Mark Mason
Exact Change / Gregory Wilson

Modest Handling
Pen Thru Anything
Simple C/S transpositions (various)
"One in the hand" (various)
Ignition / Magic Smith
Haunted Key (similar to doll)
Paddle tricks (various)
Gimmicked bill effects (various i.e Clear Thru, Clean Thru)
Multiplying sponge item (i.e. perpetual production of small bananas)

Mental effects
Effects on a card (i.e. various effects from Paul Carnazzo (Dreamweaver))

Cheers Scott, that's quite a list Smile

Can you tell me more about the first 2 self-working items on your list?

You can find both on sites like Penguin and Hocus Pocus and videos there and/or on You Tube. There are numerous presentations possible for each; here's one example

Exact Change - In short, you can reach into your pocket and (almost) instantly pull out a specific amount of change. Then you can show your pocket otherwise empty.

Pocket Money - You show 5 coins, each from a different county. Spectator empties a pocket, takes all 5 and places them in their pocket. They pull out any 2 in a closed fist. You make a correct statement about them, sight unseen. They then reach into their pocket and pull out 2 more coins (hidden) and you correctly tell which ones. Spectator then goes to get the 5th coin, and its gone. You can end there (a vansih), or reproduce the coin (relocation). http://www.jbtvusa.com/latest-j-b-produc......-791.php

Don't forget the "ring & Spring" as expanded in Magic Ian

A packet a Neccos should provide a dozen effects or more drawn from coin magic.

Not sure about the "self-working" part -- just easy
