I am trying to find out more info about this effect (circulation year, size, etc.), but no matter where I look, I see only one stock photo and the same dealer (who is out of stock) selling the only one he acquired from an estate sale. Does anyone know more of this effect, a little background of Magiro, or point me in the right direction? Thanks!

Magiro (full name Matthias Weissl, who left us two years ago - http://www.zauber-pedia.de/images/a/ac/MagiroVogt.png ) was a German inventor of magic tricks. He produced some himself, others were made by for example Werry (full name Werner Geissler) - another manufacturer of clever magic props. They were mainly sold through Eckhard Bottcher's Zauberbutike. A lot of his effects were published in the German magazine 'Magische Welt' back in the 70's.
Some of his effects, like some from another German inventor, Tony Lackner, were sold in the U.S. by Howard Schwarzman. Most of his inventions are very, very clever, and often mechanical in operation. A bit Tenyo-esque, often made from wood, plastic and even metal. Babushka, Witches Tunnel, Wand & Block Mystery, ... are just a few of his best creations. Recently a book about him with some of his inventions was released ('Magiro magie'), but it is in German. Since Magiro passed his inventions are becoming very popular among collectors of easy to do micro miracles, and that's unfortunate because this caused the prices to go through the roof recently. I have quite a lot of his inventions but Stern Kaestchen isn't among them unfortunately. As stated before, some of his effects are works of art and extremely unsusual and clever, but some are ordinary and not worth the prices some sellers are asking, imho that is. But ... they are collectible, and a lot of collectors don't care if the effect is actually good and performable, they just, well, collect |
