I am looking for any suggestions for a stage card trick for 9-12 year old's. This will be my 4th year with a camp and need to come up with a different card trick than I have done in the past. I have use cards across, card to orange and cardiograph. They always want one card effect in the show and seeing if anyone has any ideas of what else may work good with this group.
Thank you,
Derek

"Hypno-Spin" from Hypno-Trix found in The Wizards' Journal #30 will be something they won't have seen before and will leave them wondering if they have been hypnotized or not. Also, the Three Card Trick (with Four Cards) from The Wizards' Journal #22. Because these both use cards that you print and assemble yourself, they are ultra jumbo in size and easily seen from the largest stage.

First thought that came to mind was one of the monte effects for stage like Martin Lewis' Sidewalk Shuffle or Harry Anderson's 3 Card Prince. Rising card from deck or glass is another option.

Years ago Genii printed an effect called 'you lie' - a card was forced- deck shown and vol. was to to point at any card he wanted you to beleive was the picked card- (1/2 deck force cards--1/2 deck regular card - but blank back-unknown to vol and written on it was 'you lie - you picked ! ! -) card was put on vol. palm - palms together and then palms reversed and opened to refeil the 'lie'- I used this to go to the guillotine as - they had to pay the quanc??(sp?) as from the old radio/tv show 'truth or quanc. Simon Aronson's "Shuffleboard" or any of the similar ones to that.

Jumbo McCombical

Invisible deck with a mesh bag to catch the invisible deck as it is thrown back to you.

Similar to this one. I bought mine a long time ago and had to re-make it with two layers of mosquito netting as it ripped out the first time the deck hit the bottom. Since then, no problems, so worth the effort. I.D. gets a great reaction if you have fun with it.

6 card repeat (not the rap one!)

I see
FS: PRE DECK ABILITY, Aldo Colombini (Jerskin) is for sale in "Books and lecture notes for sale".
This is a version of Shuffleboard.

Virginia City Shuffle with jumbo cards?
Slight of Mouth a la Hobson,Lovell
Whack Your Pack , Paul Harris
Homing Card , Stars of Magic Carlyle

There are tons of them. All great for kids and adults. I've done all the above and all audiences love them.

Tossed Out Deck?

At a kids show? And you don't expect a feeding frenzy?
Good luck with that!
Anything that makes its way into the audience is just something for kids to fight over.
Great trick but I would not take the chance on it, done the usual way. I'd have to have the kids on stage with me
in a much more controlled situation.

I perform Mental Epic in some of my kids / family shows, using a SD. That would work great for the age group you asked about.

Also consider Cody Fisher's "Killer Prediction" (takes ID to the next level).

B-Wave stage size cards would also work for that age group.

I am also going to swith in sheer luck and see how that goes with this group. It is in my adult show but I think it may work with this group too. Agree or disagree?

As long as you don't do the embarrassing butt touching material when back to back that I see some Magicians do, It should be great.

I like Nick Einhorn's "Word in a Million". Flat out amazing as long as you direct the spectator correctly. It allows you to use a book that is on theme, like a book on camping.

Any good book test will work for this audience if you choose the right spectator.

TOSSED OUT DECK will be great, but, not in a situation where the spectators will "compare" notes after the show.

I would like to have done it in my high school program, BUT, the kids could discuss it after the program.

6- card repeat- (mentioned by Mary?) is good for Loaves and fishes - make your own - using blank cards and draw 2 loaf cards and 4 fish cards (etc.) Ralph(russo)Rousseau

Blank faced cards and double blank opens up a wide field of
personalizing.
You can use colored sharpies or print images or words directly on them.

I tend to use the sharpies.
