Can anyone tell me about how the Disneyland ride "Star Tours" has changed? I know it was updated a few years back, and I've not been on it since. Specifically, does it now go upside down? Is it substantially more violent then before? Thanks.

No, it does not go "upside down." It never did.
The original story had a misfit 'droid trying to get us to the Forest Moon of Endor, and missing badly ending up on a run on the Death Star before finally getting us back to the station we started at. The new story has C-3PO tell the pilot that he's wanted in the office for something, but the system, thinking 3PO IS the pilot, sends the ship out anyway. While leaving, Darth Vader storms into the hanger with a group of Storm Troopers and says that the ship carries a Rebel spy (at which point, a picture of one person FROM the ride is displayed on the screen. Darth uses the Force to try and hold the ship in place, but 3PO manages to break loose. At this point, there are SIX different routes the ride can take, 3PO brings the ship to several different worlds from the movies, one finish has 3PO bringing the ship to the right destination and delivering the spy to the Rebellion, the others are travelling to a final destination that somehow damages the shuttle.
