Use twelve symbol cards that are secretly marked on the back. We might use specially marked coloured esp cards.
Have the spectator mix them up and lay them face down in a left to right row. The magician notes -from the secret markings- the identity of the left most card of the row and remembers this. Hand two dice to the spectator. Turn your back whilst the spectator throws the dice and adds the two die totals together. They are then asked to place the dice shaker face down over the two die to hide the dice from view. You ask the spectator to mentally note the identity of the symbol that lies in the position determined by the grand total of the two dice. They do this by briefly turning this one card face up in the row and then back face down again. The spectator is then asked to rearrange the cards in the row before turning them all face up. The magician then turns to face the spectator again. The spectator then eliminates the cards they have NOT thought of gradually down from twelve until just two remain. Yet each and every time the magician is able to divine with 100% success their merely thought of card. Now it seems to me that if the magician turns over face down two/three of the cards at each stage of elimination that we might reach the outcome where the last two cards remaining are always the original left most card known to the magician and the spectator's thought off card. Why is this? The reason is simply that the totals of two thrown dice can not add up to one! Thus by using the first card of the original layout as one of the cards covered we can always win. This feat is best repeated at least three times to eliminate the possibility of chance in the mind of the spectator. It is also an idea to have the spectator rearrange all the cards between each phase of elimination so as to give the impression that you are turning over cards randomly from different positions in the layout.
