So (I guess Lobo would have to approve) NYCTwister should we assume
1) that your opening move against Lobo was Nc3 and continue; or 2) that your opening move against Lobo was Nf3 and continue; or 3) Start again from the beginning

Y'all know this is ridiculous, don't you? Chess is a 2-person game.

This rapid series of moves by everyone is very confusing for the not-so-swift (i.e. me). I guess Landmark’s visuals helped me a lot in the Lobo vs. Bill challenge. But it’s going to be impossible for him to cope with this exercise. |

Since I haven't played much serious chess since the early 80's, I thought it would be a good way to play some games I could sink my teeth into. Since so many were interested I thought more would play. If it got to four or more playing I'd start a separate thread for each, and update the list of moves every so often. Optimism, what are you gonna do? I offered a rook to everyone except Lobo to make it fair, based on what I'd gleaned from what was written. That wasn't hubris, it's just chess. Lobo's rating and mine are only about a hundred points apart, which at that level is almost nothing. I expect any game I ever play against him to be a fight, based on what he's written and his generally aggressive nature, and that's right up my alley - win or lose. In "real life" I'd have to finish in an hour or three so I couldn't give the material, especially with someone as strong as Lobo on one of the boards. Here though, we have plenty of time so I figured what the heck. So, if anyone wants in just set up a chess board, remove my queens rook, play 1.Nc3 (N-Qb3) as my first move, and then respond as black.

While I appreciate Jack's work, I find it more useful and interesting to use this link: https://www.chess.com/analysis-board-editor
You just click on "load PGN", then cut and paste this into the box: 1. Nc3 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. h3 Bc5 4. e4 a6 5. Bc4 Qf6 6. Nd5 Then you click on each of the moves and watch the pieces move. It's really cool! |
