What is your favorite russain roulette/smash and stab routine?

Which are %100 safe?

Does anyone know where I can find cups (or what brand) indexed 1-4 on the bottom as part of the serial number?

Thanks!

Scott Alexander's Nailed It! is 100% safe. The Pain Game (Sorry, name of the creator slips my mind) is 99% safe.

And if you replace a spike with something that has no potential for injury, they are all 100% safe. An egg, for example.

IF you mind the rules and remember to look and remember -- Death Trap ia safe AND visible. In fact I have 2 copies to make sure I always had one packed ready for an act. Now I can no longer perform but still do not want to sell them in case I heal.

For safety and effective response, I like Jon Allen's Pain Game. For ease and economy, I'm still a fan of Jimmy Fingers' Smashdown (Not "100% safe," but if you'd have to be very forgetful to harm yourself). When I did kid shows, I'd do Smashdown with eggs (very safe, of course!). If you're concerned about injury, you might consider getting something like Safety Net if you do a smash and stab with cups.

This effect is banned from the Magic Castle due to an incident last year.

I believe someone put a spike through an audience member's hand? Or their own.

Yeah, the host of a TV show got her hand impaled - it happened in Poland. Smile

Whatever someone wants to do in terms of presentation is fine as long as they don't compromise the safety of their participants!

Morgan Strebler-FailSafe offers a new way to do "Smash & Stab" not just in the performance (no physical danger) but also in method, which allow you to even let the participant see for any markings on cups (which can be borrowed)

He also offers his "Razor Edge" routine that although not a "Smash & Stab" per se, it is a "Dangerous" type routine with a real razor blade, still no real danger.

I'll have to check out Failsafe. I use Razor's Edge quite a bit in my close-up, never fails to get great reactions!

I am also a fan of Jimmy Fingers' Smashdown with an egg.

Of course, I also think that once you bring the trick to a successful conclusion, you have to smash the egg - the messier, the better.

Otherwise, it feels like "Shave and a haircut" without the concluding "Two bits."

Agreed. Though I often like to follow it up with an effect involving an egg (egg bag, an egg Asrah using The Thing, or the like).

I have a smash and stab routine of my own creation that is safe as safe can be, BUT I would never, and I mean NEVER, endanger a participant, not even seemingly, with this type of routine. It's just bad form regardless of how safe they may be.
