Hi, everyone. I've been fascinated with magic and illusion since I was a kid. I remember receiving a magic set called "Chinese Illusions of Magic" for Christmas in the early 1980s. (I believe it was made by Adams and sold at Service Merchandise department stores in New England.)
Nowadays, I practice card magic quietly on my own. I've never been much of a performer, but performing is on my bucket list for sure! My favorite magician is Michael Vincent, and I have some of his DVDs. I also have a podcast called "Illusion" which tells true stories about magicians, grifters, artists, and visionaries. It's an exploration of how our world is full of illusion, and how experiencing illusion is a fundamental part of what it means to be human. (If you're curious, you can check it out here: http://www.illusionpodcast.com) Looking forward to connecting with many of you here! |

Welcome brian.earl,
I'm from Sacramento so we may cross paths someday at an Oakland Magic Circle Magic flea market/auction or the like. Michael Vincent is wonderful for sure. (I do hope you know, you can perform for people even if you are not as proficient as Michael, right?) It is well worth the effort to bring your Magic into the light. (In fact it just doesn't seem like Magic at all if someone isn't experiencing wonder.) Go for it! -Mary Mowder |

There's a magic gathering this weekend Oh, cool! I wasn't aware of that. Foster City is in my backyard. Are you going? The Web site didn't have a ton of info. What is the format? Is it mainly performances? Workshops? Networking? |

Never been. I was on vacation recently, and I don't want to waste a vacation day for something that I haven't heard about.
If you go, tell us about it, maybe I'll go next year. Dave |

Michael Vincent has a great article in the last (August) issue of Carey-Scene (John Carey's monthly)
