My first thought was produce a second actual purse and from there produce the mouth coil, as mentioned above.

I would carry the extra purse with me and only go into the "bonus" routine when they ask about it. "Yes...I only keep my balls in this purse. But in THIS purse I keep this."

Here are a couple other ideas:
- Dump out a deck of cards and move on to your next routine
- A pair of sunglasses/check book/lipstick (this is my wife's purse)
- A live mouse
- Their watch or wallet (if you do any watch steal/pickpocket work)
- A smaller purse, with a smaller purse inside, and then dump out something bigger than all three purses from the last one (maybe a solid red ball that looks the same as the sponge ones)
- A pot of jam (seems to be a popular thing lately)

Yes yes and YES! I love the idea of producing items that would not fit inside the bag. Large coins or other objects would be easy to do I think. I love the nesting purses idea with the oversized final load!

I would suggest having a card folded up that you can verbally force. It's simple but packs a huge punch!

YES! Maybe using something like "The Minimul Index System" I could easily euivoque down to a selected card then reach in and produce the folded card from the purse! Bam! Great suggestion!

You've probable seen seen the purse routine, where a magic wand is produced! I've even seen a magician produce a cane from a purse! And, although it's not a playing card, you could finish the sponge routine with a folded business card. Lynn

There is a performance concept called "Thematic Interlude" in which you have a second string of magic happenings woven behind or around your "planned" effects.
Many of your ideas are similar, but they lead to supporting your planned effects. Consider producing items that suggest the purse (or magic) has a mind of its own - a Loki approach.

For example, you produce a coin and perform with it. Then you produce another and use the two coins. Next you extract a ball instead of a coin and toss it aside.
Produce a third coin and preform 3Fly and get another coin - oops another ball. Say, "I guess I am supposed to do something with these." and so on.

I have done a similar approach with a bug that keeps flying around pestering me. In my attempts to catch or kill it, many weird things occur, many more "impossible" than my "planned" effects.

So, you open the purse and something flies out and buzzes around. *sound effect). You finally order it back into the purse. Dive bomber sound and "Click"

The advantage of getting an audience to "buy into" an imaginary theme is completely focuses attention and mangled anticipation. Everything else you do will be more exciting.
"the more one pretends at magic, the more awe and wonder will be found in real life." Arnold Furst
