At this point, I doubt anyone will want to buy it, because I imagine that anyone who has seen the videos and liked them is busy reverse-engineering the methods used. I struggled with the idea of putting out a demo video in the first place, but ultimately decided to do so in the spirit of honesty and staying true to my stated values.
It would be nice to think that people would pay for this if they intend to perform it, but I know that it's unlikely. Therefore, I am currently considering two options. One is to not release it at all, and expressly state that no one has my permission to use it. The other option is to release an instructional product that not only contains "Philter", but one or two other pieces that might be appealing. I want to be remembered as the guy who always put out honest and complete demos, even at his own risk and expense. I want to set the right example, and promote honesty in promoting magic effects. Ben

Ben,
I would like to say that I will absolutely purchase this from you. I admit that I recognize at least some of the principles involved, but even if I could reverse engineer it, I would still buy this since it is the right thing to do. Also, rather than spending the time to reverse engineer someone else's creation, I prefer to spend that time creating my own effects. Come to think of it many effects can be reconstructed by watching the trailer over and over (given one is smart and knowledgeable enough). But most such people will buy it for one of the above two reasons. I think the number of people who will invest time to reverse engineer this to save a few bucks is very small (smaller than those pirates who are a bigger problem). So I think you should really consider releasing this. Just my opinion. As an example, I saw the trailer for Muldoon Match from Paul Gordon and immediately knew what was going on. But I purchased it for all the subtleties. If you look on Penguin, it has about 140 five start reviews now. Thank you.

I had never seen the quite deceptive 3 pile cut until I saw it in Unfazed and now on this. What is the name?

I really like this...and believe intelligent audiences will like it as well.
I admire your willingness to share your work with fellow magicians. We need more thinkers like yourself...especially those who are willing to stand by their work by sharing start to finish videos of an effect without glaring edits, or over the top reactions from select audiences. I'll purchase regardless if I perform it or not...I simply feel it's important to support your contributions to magic. |

A VERY condensed version of "Philter" is ready. For those who want a substantially shortened version of this routine, I've got you covered. Expect new footaage within the next few days.
