So here is the first version of the yeti..
I was in a rush to get this one done for a last minute show.. The 'good' version will have animatronics for extra facial movements and will have better hair work. It may be a few weeks before I get that done, as this guy will certainly work for the time being. but yeah - more pics to follow at some point! Comments and critiques are most welcome! Wow!
Thanks Doug! I am, as always, hugely appreciative of your comments. I'm a big fan! To talk shop with you a bit; this rendition was a very quick emergency job to finish in a short amount of time. I am going to be doing much more detailed hair work and have some NFT hair just waiting 😀 Thanks again for looking! |

Sometimes (most times for me) a quick 'sketch build' captures the proper essence that somehow fades when reworked or smoothed over.
A little 'roughness' will separate you from the herd and in the case of puppets these days not look too commercial. Note I said 'sometimes'...in my case, the fact that I'm usually to darn lazy to make it 'better' works in my favoir me thinks. I much admire your intentions to go for a 'good' version though...should be incredible! Just hang on to the 'quickie' if you can, it's a winner.

Thanks for the reply Doug!
Very good points.. I totally see that side of things. There have been several times that I have worked on an effect or build and yes, the quick scratch build 'prototype' was used instead of the 'good version'. In regards to getting a 'good' version done anytime soon.. I usually end up taking a long time to finish my personal projects.. I can be a perfectionist as well as a procrastinator - the two don't really mesh to create proficiency! Haha (A ventriloquist using so many 'p' words is just asking for it!) I will definitely use this guy as I finish up other more pressing projects! Thanks again for the advice! |
