Greetings,
I believe there's a 52-card version of John Bannon's Dawn Patrol, instead of the 53-card version that he uses. May someone inform me where to find it? Best, |

I don't know where it is in print, but PM me and I can give you my 52 card solution.

I know John Carey has an easy, non-faro version. It's accomplished pretty much how you'd think a non-faro version would be accomplished.
Or are you referring to one that still uses the mathematical elements of the original? |

I prefer a faro version as I speculate it allows for a clearer handling, but I would be interested in looking up John Carey's version particularly as I was intending to look into getting his material, which I don't own any of. Thank you in advance! |

John Bannons handling should work on any odd numbered deck, so either leave one joker in, or add a dupe and you are good to go.

I originally read it in his ebook Six Shooter. Unclear about the availability of that ebook, however. You’re probably better off emailing John.

Jonathan Kamm has a couple of solutions on his youtube channel.

There's absolutely no way the magician could gain control of the selection. Laymen aren't idiots -- they can perceive these types of things. It's also strange that Kamm says he's "simplified" the Bannon routine. Huh? The Bannon routine is sleightless, and has one central technique at its core. Kamm adds three sleights to the trick. That means he not only sacrifices the level of impossibility, but also makes it less efficient. |

But, I'd argue each effect would be described the same if performed for two different people.
I'm only offering an option for the OP. Of course Bannon's is superior and I agree with your points, but he wants 52 cards. |

About J.Kam's handling: I believe that, when it comes to judging a trick, it ultimately comes down to what you want to achieve. Personally, the biggest selling point for the Bannon version is that the handling of the selection is SO fair, that the ending literally just comes out of no where. Its just too quick, which I love. Also, I feel that the last shuffle is so important to the effect that it should be crystal clear that the deck is being shuffled. |

I have no problem with the odd deck, my problem is getting the card to the middle of the deck quickly. Anyone have an economical way of doing this?with or without Faros.

To set the card (I set at position 25) I do the following while introducing the premise to the spectator:
It may sound like a long procedure. In practice, as you're talking to people the entire thing can be done in a relaxed 15-20 seconds, during which time it seems like you're further mixing the cards. The big benefit is it can be done FASDIU.

Steven's solution is best. Obviously you can just have it on top do a faro-check and cut it there into position if the situation allows for something like that. Generally to get around such set ups and the deck just wont faro ( happens to me after long usage ) or I wasnt smart enough to think a faro-control to a certain position, I hand out cards in groups of 10s to be shuffled, and position the card as needed as I get the card back. I started doing this after doing Dani DaOrtiz C10 system multiple times.

That's a great idea for a "non-faroable" deck. I'm going to remember that.
