If there is a single truth about Magic, it is that nothing on earth so efficiently evades it.

Years ago a friend of mine let me view a Michigan Militia VHS tape. He thought I would find it of interest.
I said to myself no one will fall for this STUFF. It is deceptive. I was WRONG! Soon after Timothy McVeigh did the Oklahoma City Bombing. We learn new things by making mistakes.

Introducing: Bridge of Birds https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bridge_of_Birds I am a collector of some of the
World Fantasy Winner Novels.

Introducing: The Prestige https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prestige The Prestige was made into a film. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Prestige_(film) The film was not true to the novel. Still I enjoyed it. But I found the book more interesting.

Introducing: The Magic Mirror by Robert B. Neale and David Parr, Heremetic Press, Inc., 2002 is very informative and worth exploration. I recommend it as part of the study of different kinds of MAGIC. Eugene Burger and Max Maven are fond of Neale's works. Yes, I am aware Eugene Burger passed away.

Introducing the curiosity of William G. Dever. It used to be archaeology to prove the Bible. In our life time
it has become archaeology for the sake of archaeology.

If any of you are interested in how Paganism fell (well not exactly) and Christianity rose to become a major religion within the Roman Empire and how and when Jesus was proclaimed God by the emerging Catholic church, I suggest you begin reading the scholar, Ramsay MacMullen.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramsay_MacMullen Ancient texts are not always translated into English. These are works for the scholarly world of the ancient past. I have found the scholarly world of the ancient past fascinating but sometimes over my head.
I have attempted to read books I just could not understand. But then I am only a grunt. I did not fit in a university setting. I have always been a slow learner, especially when it comes to other people. Martin Gardner
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martin_Gardner and I really hit it off. I have no idea how this occurred. We never met face to face. We just exchanged letters and phone conversations. Perhaps it was because we both shared genuine curiosity. I lost a great friend and mentor, so too the world of the rational, science, history, philosophy, puzzles, and magic. I wonder if Martin would have ever
entered the limited, often too hasty, and foolish world of the internet. I will never know. My loving wife said,"Don't." Conan the the Barbarian, the creation of Robert E. Howard, has been a long time hero and favorite. Someone once remarked,"Conan is just too stupid not to give up."

Growing up during the time of World War II, I have always been interested in its history. I recently discovered the heroic woman Jeanne Rousseau. Certainly she belongs here.

Will Part 2 of this series examine the composition of the society of experts who will use scientific technique to dominate the masses?
