My favorites is:
Scott Creasey's Secretly Peeked Information Technique (S.P.I.T) Very Effective!
For those who believe, no explanation is necessary; for those who do not believe, no explanation will suffice.

My all time favorite is when you give a complete stranger your business card and then later on he phones you to book you to perform a show! It's really incredible.
Tá sé ach cleas má dhéanann tú sé cuma mhaith ar cheann.

Hotel: an excellent "Name/Place" style of effect which is done with just two business cards and a pen; it has no sw**ches or tears. Another entire system of working with business cards to achieve a variety of mind-reading effects is "The Poor Mage's Billet System". You can find them here: http://taylorimagineering.com/downloads/

No one ever seems to mention how effective a one ahead using a force and a series of double lifts can be with just three business cards. I always do it with something everyone knows (shared with group for instance how many fingers held up), something only one person knows (chooses a short name of a friend) and something nobody could know (cross force or whatever). That way the end force can be used as a climax instead of a damp squib. Works for me. I should add that as the last prediction is only out of 52 its important for everything else to be less numerous than that, and by using just fingers up and a short name then playing card it keeps the whole thing in the realms of possibility. The best way to screw up one ahead is to let the predictions be too large (think of any word / a number from 1 to 1000000 etc). Less is more.

Same concept, same "moves" but you don't have to have the limitations like Julian mentions above. I mean, isn't that always the joke about Mental Epic type things ("One in a million", "One in a thousand", "Here, pick a card")? As I was typing, I do remember I used to use a word force, from one of the Psychological Subtleties books, where you ask for a long word like television, computer.... (I won't go on since it would get too close to exposure) but it worked fine. |

Whatever happens, close up mental epic stuff should be seriously downplayed and brought into the realms of possibility or otherwise it's ridiculous
